About This Game

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown is the first-ever turn-based TMNT video game. Inspired by the classic cartoon, you'll experience a bold new approach to the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Splinter and Shredder are dead, and as the Turtles approach adulthood, they're not just growing up... they're growing apart.

Battle the Foot Clan as a powerful new leader takes control in action-packed campaigns that showcase each Turtle individually. Carve through enemies in 20 constantly-mutating levels that grow, shrink, and add new threats with each turn, inspired by classic TMNT games! Rack up points for high scores while experiencing a powerful original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles story from acclaimed indie studio Strange Scaffold. This is the next step for Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael--and you can experience it with flying, slashing figurines in graphic novel-inspired splendor.

I love Turn Based Strategy and I love TMNT so what isn't to like? It's fun for what it is and while it isn't overly complex, it's only good to very good. I really hope they implement expansion packs, characters, maps, etc. because this feels like it's the beginning of something rather than a one and done finish. They've stumbled onto something that could be great because honestly, have you ever played a TMNT game like this? I haven't. They're all side scrolling beat em ups or 3D beat em up. I love the strategy aspect. Calculating my next move. Figuring out movement patterns. There just needs to be more game. It's plays almost like a tabletop board game. I'd give it a solid 3.5/5 and hold out hope the developers have more up their sleeve, cause the building blocks are there. I just hope they turn it into an all-time TMNT game.

Fun little treat. Not hugely challenging but there are far worse ways to spend your time.

The shifting diorama levels and the knock-off-the-edge mechanic is so satisfying. It stopped me from caring about strategy and I basically just became a bouncer at the world’s tiniest rooftop club.

My main hobby is board games so Im going to be more lenient than most on this game, but i thought it was a lot of fun. Because I play a lot of board games where you have set actions and abilties, I was happy the game rules are defined in the opening level and stay the same throughout. Unlike most critically acclaimed tactics games, your not going to do a lot of gear swapping, leveling up, engaging in dialogue trees to up your bond with the party. Your going to play this like a board game. Youll clear map, reset, and go to another with little down time. There are things to increase replayability and I finished the core game in roughly 6 hours. The biggest complaint I see are about the stiff animations which is fair compared to other tactics games. As a board gamer I didnt notice. I felt that this game was closer to playin Demeo and Armello than a FF Tactics or Shadowrun.
