About the Game

■Story

“168 remaining until the end of the world...”

Humanity is approaching its end.

In a world steeped in despair and chaos, a strange religious organization called Shuten Order emerges, yearning for the end of humanity. The group rapidly gains followers, eventually forming a small nation state called Shuten.

Tragedy strikes during the grand festival celebrating their nation’s founding—the leader of the Shuten Order is murdered. Soon after, the protagonist awakens with no memory, greeted by two self-proclaimed "angels". They reveal a shocking truth: the protagonist is the murdered Founder, revived by divine power. However, the resurrection is incomplete—their memories are gone, and their life limited to a mere four days.

To survive, the protagonist must overcome "God's trial": identify and kill their murderer.

With the clock ticking, the protagonist, given the alias Rei, dives into the tumultuous city as a detective. The suspects? Five ministers of the Shuten Order. There's no time to investigate them all. Choices must be made, and the pursuit of truth demands sacrifice.

Who killed the Founder? For what reason? Can the mission be fulfilled before time runs out?

Thus begins a high-stakes, four-day hunt for the truth.

■Gameplay & Game System:

The story branches into five distinct routes, each tied to a suspect and completely altering the narrative and gameplay.

- Ministry of Security: Stealth Action Horror

Flee from the legendary killer Nephilim while investigating suspect Manji Fushicho.

--------------------------------------------------------

Features action-style gameplay where players solve various puzzles in 3D stages while escaping from the murderous Nephilim, all viewed from a top-down perspective.

- Ministry of Justice: Mystery Adventure

Solve a murder tied to the wealthy Kukuri family and expose the true killer linked to suspect Kishiru Inugami.

--------------------------------------------------------

Investigate cases as a detective by interviewing key figures and examining crime scenes to uncover hidden truths.

In the visual novel-style investigation segments, use the "Snapping" feature to closely analyze suspicious statements and intriguing objects.

During the case analysis meetings, piece together evidence collected during investigations to reveal what took place and draw closer to solving the mystery.

- Ministry of Science: Multi-Perspective Visual Novel

Navigate a deadly terrorist attack at a research lab while shifting between characters to avoid fatal outcomes, targeting suspect Teko Ion.

--------------------------------------------------------

Features multi-perspective storytelling through visual novel-style gameplay where you switch between the viewpoints of multiple characters to discover survival routes.

One person's actions can impact another person's fate.

- Ministry of Education: Romance Adventure (?!)

After being poisoned, head to Shuten Academy and unmask three enigmatic girls, one of whom is suspect/poisoner Honoka Kokushikan.

--------------------------------------------------------

A romance adventure-style game where the goal is to build deep connections with three heroines.

Use clues to track their locations on the school map and seek them out for interactions.

Raise their affection through dialogue choices and complete romance events to unlock the confession phase at night.

During the confession phase, choose the right words within the time limit to win them over.

- Ministry of Health: Extreme Escape Adventure

Survive a death game orchestrated by an unknown force while interrogating suspect Yugen Ushitora.

--------------------------------------------------------

Features escape room adventure gameplay where you must find the exit to a mysterious locked room by undergoing dangerous trials and puzzles, and wrong choices can lead directly to life-threatening situations.

Master each route to piece together the truth, confront the culprit, and shape the fate of the world in this gripping, multi-genre experience.

Another excellent game by Kazutaka Kodaka. Art direction and OST is absolute peak, some of the most interesting and vivid stuff I've seen in a while. If you are concerned about the current negative reviews: they are due to price changes in Chinese region. Really bad idea to raise prices in China by 50% after the first hour, Spike Chunsoft.
Temporary Warning
I'm hoping this changes, or that I'm worrying needlessly, but I'd like to get this out there early for folks. I saw prerelease coverage of Shuten Order express issues with the English localised script. Having now played the final build... yeah, that hasn't been fixed. Early issues are relatively light, a few questionable bits of phrasing or odd word choice. ('Snipe' for investigate, for example). I'm not surprised other people are giving it a pass - it's mostly functional, just enough to annoy those of us who pick up on awkward word choice. However, if this hasn't been tuned up, I'm extremely concerned later portions of the game are in substantially worse shape. Early reports suggested the script couldn't even keep 'you' vs 'I' straight, resulting in a character randomly attributing their actions to the investigator, and couldn't keep what gender several characters are supposed to be consistent, despite this being key to multiple plotpoints. It's a massive...

The game is looking phenomenal; unique atmosphere, awesome OST brought to you by the Masafumi Takada who just doesn't miss, incredible aesthetics, Kodaka's usual insane writing...! But. I cannot recommend this game as it is now. No cloud saves, no resolution options, no widescreen support, and also - a persistent black screen that hides everything but audio. Insanely immersion-breaking, and so far - no solution in sight. It's a very common issue seemingly, I've had it on both my PC (Win11) and my laptop (Win10), how did the game get released with such a game-breaking bug in the package is a mystery. Was there no playtest? I'll be happy to change my review once the game gets optimized, but as of today - it's a bad time to get into it.

the game is straight up unplayable, the screen goes completely black after some transitions, which is sometimes fixed by a reload, but it happens often and it doesn't always work disappointed, will update if it gets patched

So far, it feels like the movie Paprika and The Monogatari series had a ps1 adventure game baby. The world is super strange and interesting and I'm so curious to find out more. Only bummer atm is that you can't change controller settings unfortunately.

The game's aesthetic and vibes are PHENOMENAL. They really had me gaping by the end of the prologue. Animated cutscenes are also rather numerous and most of the main story dialogue is voiced although it's only in Japanese. The story has me very intrigued and the world building is incredible. Each mystery piled up on each other has me wondering what does this mean? Why is this possible? What happened in the past? I still have a lot to go through but I am really REALLY enjoying my time with the game right now!

The game is unplayable in its current form. Some textures don’t load, and on one route I can’t progress further because of this issue.
