Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief have slowly come to the conclusion that having their lives commandeered by a powerful magical artifact is not a desirable state of existence on a permanent basis.

The heroes try to return their extraordinary gifts to the Artifact called Trine, and so they meddle with powers beyond their understanding: Trine shatters and a heartless ancient sorcerer escapes. With only a broken artifact to guide them, the heroes must try and repair the damage they've caused... or the damage that might yet be done.

A married wizard and father of triplets, Amadeus can summon mystical boxes and move obstacles with his spells. Perhaps he is not the most skilled or fearsome of wizards, but the heroes rely on Amadeus on all things concerning magic and legends. Amadeus has always liked adventures more in theory rather than in practice, preferring the fame and tales of his deeds to the actual doing of said deeds, which often deprive him of naps and holidays with his family.

The brave protector of the realm with a big heart, Pontius is a champion to anyone in need, regardless of their station. Pontius was knighted by the King himself, and he has a red cape to prove it! He is a frontline hero who is always going headlong first into battle with his trusty shield and sword. In addition to passionately fighting on the side of Goodness and Justice, Pontius has an equal love for good food and drink, and dreams of one day settling down on a simple farm, where he could protect his corner of the world, while growing enormous potatoes and pumpkins. And eat pie.

Clever and elusive, Zoya gets in and out of tricky situations all the time. She brings her bow and arrows to a fight, but she also has a grappling hook that can be useful in various thiev... situations. Zoya appreciates all the adventures she has had with with Trine, due to all the trinkets she's been able to collect on the way, but she is becoming anxious to get back on her own. Being on call for Trine is nowhere near as thrilling as her old life as a purveyor of rare and precious items.

Firstly, I know it is not like Trine, garbage it has controls on the maps and a very short play time . However, I kinda like it. I died constantly while exploring some maps but overall, game looks good. Art style, backgrounds were enchanting again. I love especially book maps. This game would be a nice, short passage to other Trine games.

I was worried about this one because of the reviews but I actually like it a lot. In the N64 era a lot of 2D titles transformed into 3D collectathons, and this feels like a -lite version of that. I actually would like it to have gone a little harder into it. For the most part at functions like a "2.5D" experience, but I think it really would have worked as a full 3D open or semi-open environment. Given the story, they could have justified having so many objects to collect. The movement in this engine is absolutely incredible and intuitive. The only real thing I don't like is the auto targeting for Zoya, it's simply abysmal and this comes out strongly in combat. It's a problem when you want to link rings as well, but that at least is surmountable since there is no time pressure. Sometimes it's hard for me to understand an objects depth because the camera is fixed, though not often. They really need a little player control, like a button to rotate a few degrees around the anchor O...

This game is unfinished. If you love the series, you can pick it up on sale. Otherwise, Trine 4 or 5 are much better value.

Trine 3 is not as challenging as Trine 1 & 2. The leveling system and ability system has been removed, heroes have a fixed set of abilities only. The 3d system is rather refreshing but it can be quite iffy sometimes as you cant really gauge the depth. Having said that, I thought it was still quite enjoyable despite all the negative reviews. Completed it faster than trine 1 and 2 though, due to lower difficulty.

Overall not a bad game but clearly below the standard of the previous two entries. Not worth the full price but on a sale at 50 to 75% its worth it if you like the trine saga, though if you haven't you really should play the 1 & 2 instead. Lets start with the positives : * As usual, the art design is beautiful, with a lot of vibrant color and interesting world design. * The characters have all their skills from the start, i find it nice not to have to grind for skills that i might only use for one level. For the mixed points : * Character control is smoother than ever, which feel really great from time to time, wall jumps in particular are really nice. On the other hand the new 3d aspect really throw that part out of the windows a lot of the time * The boss fight is great, the 3d aspect really shine there but the game only has one real boss fight and its overall really easy, i lost a character only because i ended falling of the platform by accident. * The game is not grindy, i 100...

Probably and hopefully the worst game of the franchise. From insane bugs to design problems this game has it all in a bad way. Worst of it all, you can't skip the game because Trine 4 picks up the story from Trine 3. Quite honestly I don't know why they did the changes nobody asked for. Trine 3 is not made for co-op. Trine 2 was also the same but Trine 3 takes the cake on this one. They took pretty much all the skills from the players. Most we can do is like 2 things. Wizard can pull stuff and create a single box. Thief can use rope. That's it. Warrior can hit stuff and glide? Why kept the glide and took other good Warrior related stuff from the game? Tutorial is literally worthless. My Mage playing friend realized you can go in z axis with a wheel barrow. As for me as a Thief I learned the fact that I can use my rope for tying up things almost at the end of the game. BECAUSE GAME NEVER TOLD US WE COULD DO THAT. Progression... Progression is so bad and so annoying... I hated that...

After playing & beating games 1 & 2, I am a fan of the series and really wanted to like this one. Unfortunately their charm & great system they had set up in the 2d perspective in games 1 & 2 they just ruined here. It just feels awkward & janky at times. Zoya can now only shoot her bow straight. Amadeus's crafting boxes just feels off. It's just a miss. Moving onto the 4th installment greatly looking forward to their return to 2d where they've seemingly admitted their mistake in going back because this just isn't working. I don't like it. Shame really.

this game was something new and different from the first two games, it changed from 2d platforming to 3d platforming, it's fun but a bit janky at some spots. the game looks fantastic, sadly they went back to the 2d style in 4 and 5.
