Smack Monkey is a foddian game where you move left right, jump in the direction you are going (no air control) bonk against the wall or smack. If feel not intuitive at first since smacking which is used for wall jumping is a different button from jump, but get mastered after a while. You also use this button to do mini jump, vine jump and a later mechanic that i wont spoil. The map design is questionable. There are a few place where your fall will be fair and well balanced, but there also will be a lots where you will just fall down to the beginning. The map is fairly short and can be speedrun in less than 10 min, but the fall still hurt when learning the map. There is also a recover mechanic which is pretty cool when pulled off, but it feel designed to recover at these place and not intentional since a lots of place you can't use it. There are also a few secrets hidden in the map to unlock more skin. Overall, i've had a lot's of fun with it, and if you are used to platformer, i wou...

Smack Monkey: Never Stop Smacking
Reject humanity. Return to monkey.
Smack Monkey is a satisfying precision platformer where you climb fast! (and fall even faster...)
Mr. Marcus Monkey slept in and is now late for his date with his hot monkey girlfriend!!!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! Jump, climb and smack your way to the top of Sunset Mountain!
~Mr. Marcus Monkey has the shmoves~
Press "Smack" to do a horizontal smack jump on the ground or vines!
Press "Smack" before you smash into a wall to do a vertical smack climb!
Press "Jump" three times in succession to perform a triple jump!
If you slip up however... You might tumble down! Save yourself from losing progress by smacking or jumping out of a slide, before it's too late!!
Your buddy Eric the Toucan will "guide" you on your quest to scaling Sunset Mountain. He also says mean things sometimes, but he's got a good heart. (At least, so I've been told...)
Also... watch out for bananas, frostadiles, snakes and ice... They'll mess ya up!!
Listen to legendary classical tracks from the great minds of Debussy, Erik Satie and more, performed live by a trained monkey on a marimba.
Unlock different monkey colors by reaching the top fast enough!
Also I heard that if you smack your way into hidden locations, you might even find a secret frog or two... ribbit.
The game has speed running features! There's a built-in timer, an optional tutorial and variable endings based on completion time.

Saved myself mid-tumble from a life-ruining fall thanks to incredible mechanics. Then fell the whole way on the next jump. 10/10 best game ever.
This game is where boys become men, and men become monkey
I enjoyed this a lot. As of writing this I've managed to beat the game and all of the achievements. For the most part, the platforming is great. Movement generally feels fluid and satisfying, and each section introduces new mechanics that work well together. Bouncing around after messing a jump is frustrating but also pretty funny. I especially enjoyed the ice and tower sections. The spritework for the environment, background, character, and UI are also great. The dialogue and story are lighthearted and charming. The music is simple but works well. However, I do have a major complaint: I outright did not enjoy the final section of the game (the cloud section). In my opinion it is by far the most challenging section. I reached it about 1/3 of the way through my first playthrough, while the last 2/3 of my playthrough consisted of reaching and attempting the final section over and over again. Mainly, I think the final section is too punishing, even for this type of punishing platformer...
I haven't enjoyed smacking a monkey this much since Sekiro
I don't typically play these types of tight platformer rage games, but I really enjoyed this one. The art and writing has a lot of charm to it. I especially like how the characters portrait changes with movement as it helps sell the impact of each collision and action. The game also has a good soundtrack to match using chiptune remixes of classical pieces (think 'Switched-On Bach'). The game has several hidden areas which can help familiar locations feel new even after repeating failure. In terms of critique, I would prefer if the beginning of the game ramped up a little more slowly in difficulty, so you have more time to learn the game mechanics. Also, since the dialogue is written out to the side of the screen and not voiced over or presented near the player, you have to stop moving in order to focus on reading it. Its fairly minor, but having to stop to read every time you enter an area slows down the action. Btw, I have not actually finished yet, so take this review with a grain o...
i played the demo for a long time and really enjoyed it. i hope this game finds more attention!
This game is like celeste on roller skates but mastering it is so much fun. deeply frustrating (i still haven’t gotten to the end yet!) but great fun. definitely huge for any speedrunners
The likelihood of a random chimp event may be low, but its NEVER ZERO. Stay Safe. Stay Vigilant.
Experience pain, as you fail to do a wall climb and fall down to the bottom, fail to catch the vines, and experience the joy of perfectly timed jumps, as your neuron activates and you achieve the state of flow, just to be interrupted by some random banana peel and succumb to your death. Great game
