Surprisingly Deep and Immersive I went into Deck of Haunts expecting to lose interest pretty quickly. I liked the look of it from what I’d seen, but many games in this style tend to be easy to figure out and progress through too quickly, or they end up being stressful, which I wasn’t looking for. To my surprise, this one has a lot more depth than I expected. The Good Atmosphere: Excellent mood and presentation, really pulls you in. Sound Design: Subtle but effective, never too much, never too little. Gameplay: Easy to pick up, but genuinely challenging to master. The Not-So-Good UI: Could use some improvement, especially for widescreen optimization, but it doesn’t break the experience. Onboarding: Some mechanics are explained a little late, but after 2–3 runs the pieces start to click together. Overall: A great game that balances accessibility with depth. I’d give it 8.5/10 for this genre, and I’m looking forward to seeing more content and imp...

About This Game
Step into the role of a sinister Haunted House, where the walls whisper secrets and terror lurks around every corner. As the master of this cursed domain, your goal is to ensnare daring humans, play on their fears, and drain their very essence to expand your dark influence.
By day, meticulously design the labyrinthine layout of your mansion, transforming it into a death trap that no human can escape. As night falls, lure unwitting explorers into your home, where you'll use a deck of terrifying cards to summon spirits, shift hallways, and unleash spine-chilling horrors. Build tension and drive your guests toward madness, all while protecting your Heart room—the core of your malevolent power.
Once their sanity crumbles, harvest their essence to strengthen your mansion, increasing your infamy and attracting even more daring foes, from law enforcement to priests. But beware, the Stone Masons are coming, ready to challenge your reign of terror…
![]()
Unlock and collect new cards as you progress. Expand your deck to include tools of terror like bone-chilling screams, phantoms, creaking floors, and shifting walls. Use your cards to scare – or kill – your victims, then extract their essence.
![]()
Strategically design your haunted house by placing rooms that serve to protect your Heart room, where your power is concentrated. Construct a maze filled with traps, scares, and unique twists, all tailored to frighten and confuse your visitors. Utilize special rooms with unique powers to aid in your hauntings.
![]()
As humans navigate your mansion, increase the tension by playing haunt cards directly on them and within different rooms. Slowly drive them to insanity. Once their fear reaches critical levels, use the right haunts to push them to the brink of madness. Will you let them escape?
![]()
Once you've driven the explorers mad with fear, extract their essence to grow your mansion. Use it to unlock new rooms, expand your haunting powers, and attract more dangerous—and rewarding—targets. Grow your haunted domain into a nightmare that consumes all who enter.

This game has a lot of potential and already an extremely fun experience. Some things I'd love to see in the future would be: -Shorter round times. 28 days drags on if your winning and was never remotely possible if you're losing. Yes, there are 28 days in a month...but there is 0 challenge increase after 2nd week outside of specific events. Which brings me to.. -More events please. I'd like to see these compressed, randomized, and new variations added. The tension lessens considerable when you always know what to expect on what night. -Multiplayer option. This could be incredible if the developer was able to add a deck for the survivors. Or two competing/cooperating houses. As a lover of deckbuilders and roguelikes, I highly recommend Deck of Haunts. It's unique, it has a lot of charm, and damn if it isn't satisfying driving a group of teenagers insane!
I played demo for like 40 hours though full game seems harder then demo but I suppose that true of any game. It's really fun to be evil and kill people with ghostly powers and spooky stuff. I don't wanna just say 'buy it yay' I do wanna comment on some opinions. 1: Game kinda hard enough as it is and yet rooms have like a cost twice? I have to spend 100 on this rare room THEN an extra 50 to place it? It's confusing 2: Why is this 'make all drain deal damage instead' card in my 'focuses on drain effects' starter deck??? 3: I find you can die way too quickly in this game...
I really enjoy this game when I wanna play a card game and a board game. It feels like both. Devs are responsive and give updates often, which is a really nice thing. I also hope they are able to incorporate some ideas from the community, and even some future nods to horror classics, which they already did for Friday the 13th. I see this game having the potential to grow into something bigger and more awesome. More decks and customizable options would be neat, and they already added a new deck and cards! I recommend this game!
The game is a fun little time waster. I've had fun and don't regret buying it. HOWEVER...there are a few issues that severely reduce replayability: -- You will quickly learn there is one method of building the house that all but guarantees a win if you're not braindead with your cards. -- Sanity drain is all but worthless, you get less essence for it and it's better to just straight up kill. -- Only one trap is worth it, the rest are worthless or meh at best. -- Only a handful of cards are actually worth playing. -- Every game will come down to using the exact same strategy over and over. Therefore, I'd hold off on purchasing until the Devs either revise or add things to increase replayability.
Who completed this game? 120+ hours on easy and i get demolished around day 20 some. Okay i am bad but WTF!
I really like the gameplay here. I'm not normally one for card games, but this feels much more like a "haunted house manager" sort of deal. I think the run length is pretty good, but I'd like to see more progress run to run (more stuff that can be earned as a reward from runs and then carried forward to future runs). Right now the game feels like too little progress carries between runs, which isn't my preference, though I know some people prefer it. I still recommend this game with that in mind, as the gameplay itself is very good - and I like the in-run progression, I just wish there was more progression between runs.
Fun! I definitely agree with the other reviews saying it is much easier to kill explorers than drive them insane (also more worthwhile as you get 5 more essence). I do wish there was more benefit to draining sanity, seems weird how a haunted mansion would be so keen to kill than spook haha *update a day later* so after a couple more hours of gameplay i've learnt a bit more about the mechanics of the game, mechanics that really should've been relayed through a tutorial but nontheless haha, such as: - you can tell which room an explorer will enter next by hovering over their portrait (it will be highlighted green) -when an explorer has not yet entered the map you can tell which door they will enter by again hovering over their portrait (it will be highlighted orange) -USE MOVE CARDS!! little did i know they are your saving grace from preventing explorers reaching your heart or fleeing explorers escaping as highlighted before this game sorely needs a thorough tutorial. yes that probably...
Very consistent updates game is fantastic !!
Really good deck building game. Game is in its early stages of development but the devs seem to be continuing to update the game. Excited to see what new mechanics and cards get included.
