Play pick-up games, practice batting, keep track of stats, compete in single games or a whole season - you can even set the rules! Backyard Baseball ‘97 features all of the realism and statistics of adult baseball games but with simple, intuitive controls that anyone can master.
Random Pick-up: A quick way to jump right in! The computer chooses a random team for you and itself, and the game starts immediately.
Single Game: You take turns with the computer, choosing players from a random pool of characters.
Season: You create a team and manage the team through a 14 game series. The opposing teams are computer generated. At the end of the season the best two teams advance to the BBL playoffs (best of 3). The playoffs winner advances to the championship series which consists of the Super Entire Nation Tournament (best of 3) and then the Ultra Grand Championship of the Universe Series (best of 5)!

I remember playing this when you still had to use a computer disk to play it on old desktops. Playing this again now takes me back to those days when you could pretty much spend all day playing Backyard Baseball on the computer. My plan is to download each backyard sport game with each paycheck that I get. Love that I'm able to relive my early life.

I have been absolutely HOOKED to this game, the wacky characters and their charming personalities really add to this game, its not just some generic boring sports game, its a sports game with a personality which is fantastic, I would 100% recommend that you check this game out and the other games too if you want to have a fun time!

This game is really fun but hard af
I find this game very fun. And for it's time, it truely is a masterpiece. The gamemechanics are fun. You have to hit and pitch the ball, on the right timing and with the right aim. The only problem I have with the game is that the voicelines from the commentators are very long and that I have to wait sometime. Overall, a fun and enjoyable game if you like baseball.
