As we all know, Strife is a must-play for old-school FPS enthusiasts. There are many old-school FPS fans in China, but unfortunately, due to the language barrier, they cannot understand the storyline at all. Even when attempting to use image-based translation software, the in-game font is of such poor quality that it often fails to be recognized. As a result, players can only rely on walkthrough videos to progress, which severely diminishes the gaming experience for Chinese players. If possible, could you please consider adding Chinese language support?

I was interested in this game because I enjoy a lot of the older shooter games like Blood and Doom 1/2 and I regret giving this a try. There's a few interesting story elements and the voice acting is novel but it has aged like sour milk, the game becomes vague and more and more difficult to understand what the game wants you to do to progress. All the guns other than the assault rifle suck, the game feels like a chore and slog, the stealth mechanic doesn't even make sense and barely seems to work, and I'm 2 hours into the game and now the devs thought an endless maze of sewers with environmental poison hazards would be a fun thing to navigate. The map sucks, you can't zoom out and see how to navigate these insane mazes to end up where you need to go. At this point I'm just BORED and there's way better games out there, it feels like I need to be a secret master just to progress in the game even bad levels of Doom 2 weren't this labrynth like and vague, avoid if you like pure shooters be...

this game falls under the "alright" category for me, the movement is kinda clunky but hey the game was made 20+ years ago so i guess it makes sense. it's not bad tho.

Fight for the Front and Freedom! Move Out! Strife is a very good FPS with a fun story that has the kind of imagination and creativity 90's sci-fi/fantasy is well known for. Its a shooter from '96 so there's some jank, but the modern veteran edition cleans up a good amount of it. The VA's might be a bit cheesy to some, but there's enough non cheesy ones to get you through, and just having VA's is novel enough in its own right.

I played through the original Strife years ago, and Veteran Edition proves that this game still holds up remarkably well. The dead ends and bugs from the original have been cleaned up, and the save system is now much more user-friendly. Back in 1996, Strife was truly groundbreaking — blending open-world exploration, RPG elements, and one of the first truly compelling storylines in an FPS. That story still holds up today, especially as it unfolds midway through the game. The voice acting can feel a bit hammy at times, but that’s largely due to the technical constraints of the era — limited camera angles, minimal post-processing, and so on. Because of this, a more theatrical delivery actually was necessary. Highly recommended, especially if you grew up in the ‘90s or you're interested in video game history. Strife didn't get the recognition it deserved in 1996, but it definetely inspired many future FPS games and is an important piece of history.
