About This Game

Special Offer

Striga will be available early in the game as a token of appreciation for all players who have purchased the game during Early Access. After the 1.0 launch, non-Early Access players will have the opportunity to unlock it as a late-game weapon.

About the Game

Witchfire is a single-player RPG shooter from the creative minds behind Painkiller and Bulletstorm. Embark on perilous expeditions, vanquishing foes to enhance your powers and arsenal. Scavenge valuable resources and retreat to your sanctuary, or push your luck by confronting Familiars— the powerful guardians of the witch.

Skill and knowledge are essential for success against the Witch of the Black Sea and her witchfire-fueled army. If you die, return to the battlefield for a one-time chance to reclaim what you lost, or attack again with a new plan.

Explore vast, immersive biomes and choose your battleground to confront the witch's forces. Each completed encounter strengthens you and your arsenal through the roguelite system called Arcana. There are countless ways to build your preyer and dominate the witch.

Only the most wicked sinners are transformed into preyers, undead assassins sustained by witchfire flowing through their veins. In the base of operations known as the Hermitory, you can choose from a wide selection of distinctive weapons, spells, and artifacts to build your own preyer.

On each expedition, you can extract your looted items or, if you feel confident, confront the witch’s Familiar to unlock new areas and powerful items and upgrades.

Piece together a story from the past to save the future. Investigate ships crashing on the verge of the witch’s land and locate the artifact that can tip the scales in the ongoing war between the Church and the witches.

During the Early Access period, Witchfire will undergo changes, including new areas, enemies, weapons, and tools of destruction. Help us shape the game to reach its full potential!

After spending more than sixty hours in Witchfire, I can confidently say it is one of the most satisfying shooter roguelites I have played. Developed by a small team, it delivers AAA‑quality visuals and a deep gameplay loop. As a preyer, I hunt witches with forbidden guns and pagan magic, and the game lets me decide whether to pick off enemies from afar, study encounters tactically, or combine firearms and spells into my own brand of mayhem. I am a long‑range enthusiast, and the time I have invested has been rewarded with memorable head-shots and tense cat‑and‑mouse encounters across the game’s richly detailed maps. The July 2025 Webgrave update is the most transformative yet. It adds a brand‑new region called Velmorne, a blighted town full of secrets and new enemy types. This update introduces the Rosary, a system of passive skills that lets me tailor my build and share configurations with other players. The Workshop has been overhauled so I can control the research path...

Great game. Gunplay is very satisfying and movement feels like destiny obv in a good way. 5 maps as of now, hopefully they will add more in future. Lots of guns and magic to unlock and the gameplay loop is very fun with the roguelike element. Had to edit my review cuz it made some people angry but yea i was wrong about it. Give this game some time to sink in and you will have a blast. And yes totally recommended.

This is how the game will start. You decide how much you want to grind this game out. - You will have access to one map, and it's small. You need to unlock all the maps. - You will have a very limited selection of weapons depending on class. Sometimes just 1. - Enemies are damage sponges. You will be mag dumping the whole time. - You will be fighting the same two types of enemies the whole time. - The game is hard with no option to make it easier outside of starting class. - Unless you're a game wizard, I'm going to assume you will be grinding away on this one small map for quite some time. Possibly many hours. Game control: - There is no option to toggle sprint so for me, since I put sprint on 'shift' and crouch on 'control', sliding is extremely annoying to do so I basically don't do it. There is no way I'm getting used to a different control scheme as I have 1000 plus hours on Darktide and that's how I play. - Stamina is king. If you don't have good stamina you will suffer....

Even in early access it's already immensely fun if you like a challenging shooty game. Cool atmosphere, fantastic feel of weapon and hit feedback, nice fast pace. I'd almost say a bit of Hunt:Showdown PvE with fanatics instead of cowboys, just faster. Love it.

The greatest praise that can be given for Witchfire is that when I stream this game to my friends, they always want to play it co-op with me. When you check the steam discussions, people are clamoring for co-op. This game will never have co-op (outside modding, perhaps) but I think the fact that people want to play Witchfire so much is indicative of how good a game this gem really is. Gunplay is great. Enemy design is great; enemies are tough but (mostly) fair (why do Halberdiers have a twenty-foot vertical in all that armor?), though they may seem brutally unfair until you learn their ins-and-outs. Weapon and item variety is pretty good, even though balance-wise the devs do seem a bit obstinate on under-performing weapons actually being really-good-trust-me-guys. Level design is phenomenal - which is good, as there are "only" five levels (at time of writing; a sixth is planned) but each one is quite significant in scope and secrets. But the game is not without its flaws. It'...

Refreshingly competent shooter with some of the most satisfying gunplay I've experienced in recent memory, can be quite atmospheric under the right circumstances. Frustratingly difficult to describe to a non-player because of its (to me, at least) unique approach to core game structure: best I can do is "go here, kill everyone and return to base" shooter with *minimal* roguelite elements (the only "procgen" thing in this game is the enemy spawn layout with, again, minimal consequences). Exceptionally optimized too with a very in-depth graphical settings menu. Nothing else to say but worth pointing out. Presentation-wise I do find it leaning a bit on the generic side of things (witch hunters with blessed revolvers shooting demonic minions and shit with christian choirs playing in the background) but it still pulls it off well enough, and isn't even fully realized yet, so who knows. if they make the witch a "hot seductress" im changing this review to negative istg Extremely ...

Full of content, even as an early access. No lootcrates or battlepasses in sight, just great gameplay and lots to explore. Gunplay top notch, spiced with some magic. The dash-mechanic revealing weakspots is a great system and the flow of the game is perfect. Highly recommended

Bought it blind based on an recommendation. It's the most fun I've had with a shooter for years. Great design, vague enough that nothing is handed to you, great gunplay, nice variety of weapons and spells. You are not bombarded with exposition but instead are given great gameplay. If you wanna buy a really solid single player shooter with great longterm playability, a good feeling of progression and an interesting setting this might be for you.

Excellent game... Destiny meets Darksouls meets Remnant 2, all in one AAA package, and for an amazing price. This game embarrasses AAA money grabbing, live service, micro transaction, greedy dev companies. Stay true Astronauts and don't sell out, like others have!
