as much as I wanted to like this one, I didn't need to play very long to realise it held no candle to Balatro as it aims to, this review is as harsh as it will be based on the fact that this is trying to be Balatro with words. For the biggest problems to me is that this has no feeling of adventure at all, it's a linear game with few choices, any roguelike worth it's salt thrives on player decision and builds. With this huge lack of player agency each round has you choose 1 bonus out of 3 options, and that is literally all the building potential you get, you have a letter bag that is largely not under your control so you can't build around specific words, you just pick a bonus and hope the next ones you get match what you got, you can spend your rerolls to get different bonuses but that gimps your run later down the line as those are also used for rerolling (only 3) letters. There are no extra systems to make you think about interesting builds that you can come up with or a different ...

- The demo promised suprises and challenges. I assumed there would be puzzle like levels, or a story, or anything more than an arcade game, but it's jsut that: an arcade game with achievments and no other sense of progress, nothing to unlock, no plot. This is a roguelike arcade game with scores. Nothing more... at ten bucks. + For a one-dev game it's great, - but my eval is negative because sadly, in 2025, when Skyrim SE and all its free mods are at less then 20 bucks, paying 10 for an arcade letter game relying on a dictionary... that's diffiicult. + The only thing that really stands out in the gameplay today in this game is that it's a world game that supports more than just English. To this game, I haven't found ONE world game on Steam that supports other langages than English. The ridiculous faux pas that are DLC in that genre not counting, + There are Great assets, great animation, great sounds, ok music. So I don't know if I want to vote for it or not... ten is still exp...

Wordatro is, in a word, unfinished. Its dictionary in particular is in a very poor state. Given the single developer to this game has not posted an update since launch (and with good reason, they are now a father based on their most recent update), nor will it likely have one any time soon, I recommend you wait to buy this game until it is more complete and functional. I am quite excited with the concept and direction, however. The bones are good and I trust with time this will be a good buy--so I will be coming back to Wordatro in the future, and will update my review then.

chillin, vibin, chillin, spellin, chillin. I'm a daily challenge doer... pretty much daily. Love me some breaking into the top 10 in the endless portion after some good planning to defer/hoard energy. The game mechanics are easy to learn, and there's a bit more tactical variety than you'd expect... while also not being one of those 'infinitely scalable tile value' games (I played a demo for one that uses scientific notation, and with the right RNG it was quite easy to break; that isn't the case here). My only critique for this game is that the dictionary should be updated. GAMERS isn't an accepted word lol. No blame the dev's way, since this is their first game and they've done it outside their first language... let's just get a database update :) but it's absolutely not a dealbreaker! And it's cool that we at least have the word finder tool to test in advance whether a word will be accepted [before attempting a hopeful letter swap].

This tickles my brain in all the right ways. Roguelike word games were not on my bingo card, but I am here for it. Definitely worth picking up for $10

For those who also say "ooo good word" to others mid conversation, this game is for you. Like playing scrabble solitaire but with the sound of a slot machine hitting the 62 cent jackpot constantly.

A super fun little word game, very clever and very addictive. Perfect for casual sessions. It works perfectly on the Steam Deck by the way, except for the intro video.
