Curious art direction using like a preschool art homework, or maybe just inspired by it. Reminds of when a teacher would make us draw our families, and everyone obviously draws oval turds with sticks attached to them, except that one kid that for some reason could draw realistic features at the age of 9 (and 30 years later he is still better than me, hate that guy) The game is about 70 minutes, I mildly had fun playing it, but I can't say it was anything more than that. I didn't mind the actual drawings, I care more about how the art is contextualized rather than its raw quality, although I do wish you had more locations or animations as the game mostly takes place in the few areas. Not a very flashy story, thematically it's very down to earth, focusing on challenges of being a single parent raising a child, and various mental issues that come with it like loneliness and putting your personal goals on hold. I wouldn't say it's a dark narrative, but there is a lot of cursing and some d...

A touching and real story with the perfect art style. I loved the bedtime stories, they're so imaginative and sweet :D
An absolute joy! So funny, while still being sincere and heartwarming. Comes by its personality with so much playfulness and honesty. Completely threads the needle between showing all the wonder of this world we live in… aaaaand everything else it throws at us. Such an easy recommendation for anyone who likes story games, or games set in real world, starring human beings. Love it!
I love the visual style and tone of this game - they fit well around its themes of parenthood, routine, and mental health. Also, the subtle humour is great :) definitely a unique work of art!
Incredible! There’s so much humour in this. Don’t let the deceptive art style fool you. Seeing the artifacts of the scanner and the grit of the pencil only reminds us of the humanity before us, it pulls me into the game more. What a curse and blessing it is to feel! I love you Camille.
Camille and Laura is by no means a 10/10 game, but if you are a parent or grew up in a single-parent home, I think it is a must-play. The emotional tale of a single mother trying to get through her daughter's first week of school is heartfelt and deeply relatable to any parent. The art style purposefully looks childish to evoke the feeling that the story is being told through the eyes of Camille, the five-year-old girl, and it works very well with the game’s stripped-down point-and-click mechanics. I think it is a great way to spend an evening, as it only takes about two hours to complete. However, if you aren’t a parent, it may not be for you as I do not think the emotional highs of the story will hit in the same way.
Camille and Laura is a very short narrative adventure game with graphics created from scanned crayon drawings. It has point-and-click gameplay mechanics, even including the ability to combine inventory items, but I wouldn't say there are any puzzles. Normally I don't like "slice of life" games where we're required to perform some extremely simple task, then we're shown the next fragment from the life of the protagonist, and then we rinse and repeat. But in Camille and Laura everything moves at a brisk pace, the dialogs and cutscenes are short and smoothly integrated into the flow of the game, and there are lots of nice little touches making the gameplay more entertaining. If anything, sometimes the game moves on too quickly -- it can be unexpected that as soon as I perform the last task, the game switches to the next scene. I quite liked the writing, the graphics and the little animations. Perhaps the only minor issue is that the texts on Laura's computer are too tiny.
I grinded my ass off to get those grueling emails out, just so I could enjoy those beautiful bedtime stories. I don’t usually think much about single-parent relationships, but getting even a glimpse of what that might be like is truly worth anyone’s time.
A short, heartwarming game that tells the story of a single mother doing her best to support her daughter during her first week of school. I like to imagine that the story is told through the eyes of a child, with all of the playful and endearing interpretations of what adult life is like. Really impressed by the sound design, something that is often overlooked in indie games; the little jingle to accompany every "I love you" made its absence so much more heart wrenching. Bravo.
An original and touching slice of life story, told in a way only an interactive experience allows. Some of the point and click "puzzles" can have wonky results if you combine certain things, but the game is interesting and thought provoking in it's honest representation of a single mother and her child. We need more games that dare to portray the mundane. There is so much breadth and depth to the human experience, and this game scratches at something few games have the courage to try.
