About This Game
A unique RPG where the villain randomizes the world with each defeat.
Start with a classic RPG experience! The enemy has attacked, your king is dead, and the sacred artifact of your kingdom has been stolen. It's up to you, the descendant of a legendary knight, to avenge your king and restore your kingdom's artifact to its rightful place. But victory is only the beginning!
Upon completing your quest, the villain sends the world into chaos, Splintering (randomizing) your homeworld and rolling back time. It's up to you to unravel these Splintered worlds. Items, towns, and equipment has all been misplaced and your enemies share traits and abilities in unpredictable ways. Complete these Splintered worlds to unlock new challenges, classes, and game modes while getting one step closer to the final showdown!
Features:
Classic turn based combat. Use attacks, spells, and items to overcome your foes.
Level up equipment to unlock a multitude of powerful abilities to define your playstyle.
Mix and match equipment from 3 class archetypes (Paladin, Thief, Mage) with more to come!
Encounter dozens of enemies that, when randomized, shuffle their traits and abilities to form new, unpredictable, challenges.
Hunt enemies to unlock specialized passive talents and take your power to new heights.
Adapt to the randomized world. Improvise, master new playstyles, and counter deadly enemy combinations to overcome the Splintering.
Conquer challenges to unlock new game modes that drastically alter the game such as Roguelike Mode, Clairvoyance Mode, Instinct Mode, and more!
Level up to learn 9 core spells that can be further enhanced by equipment in powerful ways!
8-bit retro styled art and audio for a classic experience (that's MOSTLY faithful to the era).
Customize your favorite game modes and randomized settings to create your own flavor of endless fun.
Unravel a story that begins as a classic tale of treachery and unfolds into one of mystery, secrets, and truths.
Seamless in-game help feature. Telepathically communicate with your father for guidance if you get lost. (Note: Help feature is completely optional. Exploring and talking to NPCs will provide plenty of hints to complete the game without help.)
Endless randomized seeds.

User Reviews
The game is not complete, but I enjoyed what was there, and for the price I thought it was worth it. I fun little RPG, the equipment lead to some decisions about how to build your character. I liked the combat. Rerunning the "NG+" chapters, which were the same game but different, was interesting. The changes were enough to keep me interested. If you're looking for a short little rpg, try this out.
Only finished the first chapter but I had to leave a review for how much fun I've had with it so far. Really good DQ1 clone but with a lot of original ideas thrown in to make it it's own thing, I really liked the character building options and equipment leveling + passives and thought it did a lot to elevate DQ1's formula. Definitely looking forward to getting into the next few chapters, really great work by the dev and I'm excited to see the full release + whatever they do next :D
I have way too much fun lvling up the equipment... I always wondered, why i liked jrpgs so much, but on most of them i would get bored easely. But this one just seems perfect. I even took breaks!? Thats insane for me. I usually like to gulp the game in one go like a lunatic. Sorry its not a coherent review, but i really enjoy this game. Hope i will have enough determination one day to make my own jrpg, for me amd my friends. I thinks its a cool game
If you want a modern twist on Dragon Quest (The first, specifically), I highly recommend! I love the equipment system in this game. Additional buffs are unlocked the more you use it. I'm a big fan of this, more turn based games should have that.
If you enjoy old school RPGs like Dragon Quest, you will enjoy this one a LOT! So far after 1 chapter cleared, this game is incredibly fun! I recommend it! :D
Excellent game that scratches that retro RPG itch incredibly well. There are a ton of interesting gameplay elements that take the single character RPG and remix it to add incredible depth. Highly recommend!
Splintered is a turn-based, retro-inspired JRPG that perfectly captures the feel of a classic 16-bit adventure. The game's strength lies in its unique progression system, where a single character evolves based on the abilities found on different pieces of equipment, allowing for deep customization and varied builds. Its clever use of randomization ensures that each playthrough feels fresh. Polished and intuitive, the game delivers a challenging yet rewarding experience. While its old-school design and focus on a single-character system may not appeal to everyone, it's a hidden treasure for fans of the genre and offers significant content for its price. If you appreciate games like Dragon Quest, Splintered is an absolute must-play.
This game doesn't waste your time or money. If you like Dragon Quest, this game will just heighten that love by showing you exactly why you like it. It also remind me of Bravely Default, only better realized in ways that make exploring the same things feel good and not repetitive. I've had it for about a week, I've beaten the final boss 8 times. 4 times with new classes and equipment 3 times with new game mechanics and 1 time fully randomized and the game isn't even fully released yet! If the Dev sees this: OST WHEN? I like what i hear so far, very much =)
The game is fun just wish you could recruit others for that final fantasy, or dragon warrior feel. Other that that can't wait to see what the game grows into.
