Seeing this game reminded me so much of the Yu-Gi-Oh games on GBA where you could walk around the city side-scroller style, duel other people, buy card packs, etc. That's why I picked this up in the summer sale. After playing for a little while, though, I just didn't find it very fun. I don't find the card game itself very fun. The tutorial duels didn't feel very informative to me. Then the first two people I came across to duel completely destroyed me. I don't know if there's ever a time where the player goes first, but I went second in both duels, and even went second in the tutorial duels. This sets you up with a strong disadvantage right away. You have to discard a card to gain a single energy point and, if you're lucky, you'll have a one-energy soul in your hand that you can place and then do nothing with since you can't attack the first turn it's played. So it's more likely that the opponent will play another soul on their next turn, then immediately destroy the soul you played, ...

Hey there I'm "aeiou", and I'm the developer behind this thing! For as long as I can remember I've been cursed with the ungodly affliction of "enjoying card games". Growing up, when I wasn't scraping together money to buy more packs I was playing videogames that offered the 'card game experience'. I fell in love with the adventure of starting from nothing, piecing together your first deck, fighting to get more cards, and then finally becoming a powerhouse duelist. I'm making Cardaire to capture that experience for my fellow cardboard enthusiasts.

Keep up the tempo
It's Duelist Kingdom.
Extremely cute and wholesome single player card game. Story is quite short (5-6 hours) but worth every penny. Very refreshing to play a card game that's not a roguelite or P2W.
