This is a review of the entire season, with attention paid to individual episodes throughout. Placing it in every episode of the season since there is no page for a 'complete' package where this review would fit better.
Sam & Max Season 3 is the first season initially released outside of the GameTap subscription service (now defunct), which funded the first two seasons of the point and click adventure games. It's weird thinking about it now, but this series was an ambassador for that service. A powerful one at that. It's almost melancholic seeing the newest season on Steam; this must be what Sonic fans felt when they saw the games on Nintendo consoles. Seasons 1 and 2 were comprised of episodes that contained their own plotlines, which were seperate from every other episode. But there would always be an overarching storyline that connected all the episodes, which was always the plot of the final episode. About This Game
In The Devil’s Playhouse, an otherworldly power for controlling matter and space calls to the strongest and strangest who might wield it -- intergalactic warlords and eldritch gods, under-dwellers and scholars of the arcane.
Gaming's greatest dog and rabbit sleuths Sam & Max seek the power’s ancient secrets, as manic Max gains shape shifting, teleportation, mind reading and future vision abilities for battling these foes.
The saga plays out in a surreal symphony of mayhem that gets deeper and more twisted with each episode.
User Reviews
I love Sam & Max.
Not as good as the first episode. Story and game play was cool. But not as goo das the first episode. This one felt like it was put in to pad out the story. Not to say that it's bad... just, not great. The train sequence was great tho!
Point and Click at its very best. Great writing and voice acting.
just as good as the other Episodes (played in offlinemode)
good
is nice
Amazing episode, portrayed differently. This episode you go about locations by switching movie reels, having to go back and fourth between reels to get information and clues from the future to help you in the past and so on. Whilst switching reels is no different than just using the Desoto normally, this new way does make it feel special and unique. It was also great to see past character return again, and see how they became to be in the past when compared to their modern selves.
Probably the best of the series.
