About This Game

SpellForce 3 - The perfect blend between RTS and RPG!

It is the year 518. The rebellion of the renegade mages, known as the Mage Wars, has been quashed by the Crown. However, it was a Pyrrhic victory: Whole regions have fallen into anarchy, refugees roam the lands in search of shelter, and a mysterious, deadly plague called the “Bloodburn” has arisen and is spreading rapidly.

In times like these people cling to any sign of hope they can find. The Purity of Light, led by a charismatic man called Rondar Lacaine, claims that mages are the source of all misfortune – and that only the second coming of Aonir, the father of all gods, will return Eo to its former splendor.

The story takes place before the acclaimed SpellForce: The Order of Dawn.

I really want to like this game. But, the balance during troop and base building game play is horrible and just frustrating. I like to be challenge but, the AI mobs spawn none stop. They are unfairly stronger than the troops I can put out. I really wanted to finish this game for the story, but I'm going have to put it down for now.

SpellForce 3 + Expansions. ------------------------------------- A Throwback Done Right I grew up with the original SpellForce games and I can honestly say SpellForce 3 feels like coming home. From the moment the music starts you get that same warm feeling of the old days. The mix of RTS and RPG is still here and it works just as good as before. You build your base, gather your army, then go on a quest with your hero. The story is solid and has enough twists to keep you going. It respects the lore from the older games without just copying it. The maps are well made and full of small details to explore. The voice acting is good and fits the tone of the world. The UI takes a bit to get used to but after a while it feels natural. Then there are the expansions. Soul Harvest adds new factions and a darker tone to the story. Fallen God brings a fresh point of view and new mechanics. Both expansions make the world feel bigger and more alive. They do not feel like afterthoughts but real part...

Really goofy for a remake. Enemies barely react to hits and animations are poorly made. Dubbing is quite cringe and UI is a mess. Nice graphics though.

This game is nothing short of amazing. An interesting mix of RTS and RPG two genres I really love, this game offers an excellent campaign when it comes to characters which are very impressive and interesting, voice acting and story, it's a long campaign (which is great) with a lot of content and lore offered with excellent map designs and soundtracks. The campaign can get a bit tiresome on harder difficulties which can be easily resolved by changing the difficulty anytime you want, with no achievements related to that which by itself is really comforting. The PVP mode is also a lot of fun, the base factions are nice and the matches can get pretty intense. Spellforce 3 Reforced is a solid game with a great campaign and good PVP gameplay. I definitely recommend it! Specifically for anyone that appreciates great solo campaigns (which can be played in coop also) and enjoys Fantasy games.

Well, since there is no points-system in Steam reviews, I have to stick to "yes/no" whether recommend this game or not. And I'd rather not recommend it for playing nowadays. It's not that bad, but its drawbacks outweigh any positive moments the game might have. The main feature of the SpellForce series has always been the fusion of RPG and RTS, and in this case both the aspects aren't great. The devs failed to focus on both of them at the same time and provide a decent quality with detailed and interesting gameplay, which resulted in them being mediocre at best. The RTS part is especially weak with mostly bland missions and similar tactics. As for RPG, the story, at first, is kinda intriguing, but then becomes pretty shallow and overall poor-written. Most maps are huge, but quite empty with some chests scattered around and occasional NPCs waiting for a player. The maps could've been shrunk easily with no loss except they wouldn't be fit for RTS gameplay then. So, in RPG mode they're bo...
