Last Half of Darkness

I'm not going to refund this because I want to support the dev but this game really isn't very good. I'm a HUGE fan of the original trilogy, I have a weird obsession with it after having beat it in the 90's as a kid, but this "remake" is just not it. It does use some similar themes with the haunted house, the creepy guy in the hood, etc, but everything else is awful. You can tell 90% of the assets are just store bought/flips, (not to mention the dreadful AI art for the Steam banner) the sound design is loud and obnoxious, the combat is atrocious and the puzzles are super vague and expect you to investigate every single element to find the one thing you can actually interact with. When the game expected me to do one of those annoying painting tile shuffle puzzles where you can only move one block at a time, is where I stopped.

🔷INTRO🔷I bought [b]Last Half of Darkness 2025[/b] out of curiosity... and I liked it (I don't know the OG). I enjoyed this fairly classic horror story. It's a nice game. It's like an old kinda game with modern graphics. 🔷TAGS🔷Horror. Puzzles. Exploration. ✅PROS✅ -I liked having the freedom to move around a bit to explore the place and unlock doors/codes as I went, even though I did a lot of backtracking (you have to retrace your steps to look for things you'd forgotten or hadn't seen). -Graphics are beautiful (mansion, furniture and objects, garden, Victor, etc.), however, ❌Sarah's model looks very cheap. -Creepy atmosphere. -Puzzles are simple, except the "slider" but the ghost helped me :D (I know... skill issue), so I think it'll be fine for most of you. -A few well-placed jumpscares that did their job. Having never played the original, game of last half of darkness, i can honestly say i was Pleasantly surprised at What an Awesome game it was to play, the story line is catchy and i Wanted to know more, and being a huge Fan of haunted mansion horror games it certainly won't Disappoint the most eager fans of horror adventure, Worth every dollar i paid. Thank you WRF studios for a job well Done!

The BEST of the WRF Studios "Last Half of Darkness " - GREAT GAME - So : - You will die ; - You will shoot a lot (with a gun) ; - You will explore - search - find a LOT (which is great) ; - You will jump scared ; - You will read a lot to understand the story ; - In the genre, you will LOVE! - Highly recommended ! I have fond memories of playing the shareware version of the original Last Half Of Darkness as a child in the nineties, so it was nice to see this remake available, and even nicer to play it. This is a horror adventure game, played in the first person, where you make your way through a haunted estate, reading notes, collecting items, and solving the odd puzzle as you go. There are action elements as well, and fortunately you find a gun early on that comes in handy. The game looks beautiful, especially the haunted mansion itself (and especially from the outside), and the sound does a lot to add to the atmosphere. Everything feels ominous, and when I was playing at two in the morning with headphones in a dark room, I literally felt tingles at times. The only downside to this game is that it can feel clunky at times, and there were three times I can recall in a dozen-ish hours of play that I got stuck in the scenery and had to reload. Having played the originals, I purchased this and sadly due to motion sickness could not continue after 20 or so minutes; however, after deleting the game and requesting an immediate refund, the game disappeared from my account. So now I will have to figure out how to get my $10.46 refund (sale price). Not very happy about this snafu but if you don't suffer from seizures or nausea from motion sickness it seems like a good game? Please refund, STEAM?
