Incredibly poorly balanced. Specific units are leagues above others, you can actually win runs spamming nothing but specific units without any synergy whatsoever. Also, the tooltips in this game are awful. You have a minion that has 100 attack and 100 defence vs something that has the exact same stats, you'd expect them both to be equal in terms of power and die around the same time, however this is not the case. For some reason armor and damage acts differently on each unit and the tooltips do not explain this at all. There is really no way I can explain it, it feels like there is a hidden modifier that adjusts how you're actually scaling. Just look at some of the discussions in the community, a lot of people are complaining about this and the developer can't even give a good explanation to this. Also, content wise this game is lacking significantly. I can't recommend for full price. Maybe at half price if they fix all the issues.

Grab some cute units. Put them onto your field. Watch them fight, watch numbers go up. <3 Yet... numbers dont add up when you combine things? An uncommon unit with ---less--- numbers doing way more dmg than a rare? I call something fishy here. As a Player I don't have the information I need to take informed decisions about my army. And I do not like it.

I'm really sad about posting a negative review... This is one of the most appealing games I've ever played, but the execution is very poor. The stats on your units do not indicate the actual strentgh of a unit. They are actually coefficients applied to the true hidden stats of each unit. So there's litterally no way in game to know what you're actually playing with. That has to be one of the worst design decisions i've seen in auto battlers, if not the worst. Second pain point : the balance is completely off. Some things are op, some strategies are not working just because ... too weak, even though it shouldn't. I strongly encourage the devs to play their own games more, and have actual stats on the performance of each troop. I'll be more than willing to turn this into a positive review later when the game gets updated, but for now it's barely playable for more than two hours. After that, the frustration of actually not knowing the stats of your units and losing even though your com...

I loved the demo and eagerly awaited the full release, but what I got feels worse than the demo did. The designs are all excellent but this game is devoid of many of the developments that this genre or even roguelikes as a whole has built up over years. Unclear stats. No faction bonuses (to justify using weaker units) No variety in bosses in runs. Commander bonuses are either underwhelming or detrimental. Unclear unit odds, with no way to manipulate them. No way to mess with economy and odds. Health loss is way too high, so no point in accepting early losses to stockpile gold. (especially with no econ) Unsatisfying relics that you can only acquire by being ahead. (beat a difficult elite to get a free rare unit....) Unclear mechanics on unit merging and levels. (sometimes feel like I'm losing stat bonuses by merging) Last boss gets stronger on using rerolls during it, so you have to have already won by the time you get to it. That's all surface level without getting into issues with i...

The criticisms in many of the negative reviews are valid, some things are unclear. I had many runs that I lost and wasn't sure what went wrong, or would be easily cruising and suddenly get destroyed by a boss. After I learned, I can now reliably beat the toughest difficulty. But this being at a nearly 50% positive review rate is bonkers. If you like auto-battlers, this one is great and I'd absolutely recommend if you are looking for a game that's a challenge and you wont beat in your first couple of runs. You'll need to pay attention to certain units during battle to see what additional moves/abilities they are doing. And the art style and presentation are much better than most in the genre.

Honestly, I don’t get the negative reviews, Knightica is a hidden gem! A brilliant roguelike autobattler with deep strategic layers, inventive synergies, and satisfying progression. Totally worth diving in!

It Saddens me to give the game a thumb down after I had such a good time on the demo, but i really expected more from the final release. Getting to finally play past the second boss was elating, seeing the game end after the third was totally deflating. You can keep going on endless mode, but it is a short repetitive loop against the same enemies, adding nothing new to the mix. I managed to get to endless 7 before quitting, not seeing the point to keep making numbers go bigger just for the sake of it. Content aside the game has a slew of other issues. A severely lacking interface. A dearth of useful information regarding your units or the mechanism at play. Balance doesn't seem... great. And the cutesy simplistic style hide an overall lack of readability. I would advise to wait for a sale and give it a go on the cheap. It definitely can scratch an itch but there are certainly a lot of other games that does it better.

An AutoChess-inspired roguelike. It's a good concept, and there very few of these games out there, so I really wanted to like this. There used to be a demo, but they've removed it since launching the game. Knightica has one core issue: the player is given no information. Units have countless hidden properties and mechanics that determine how they're going to operate in battle: range, damage scaling, movement behavior, unit-count, splash damage, and more. None of this is displayed in-game anywhere, and that means the player cannot make meaningful decisions. Some units are far better than others, but you'd only know that through trial & error. It's less strategy, and more of a guessing game. The developers recently posted an update "plans for the future", and they have not addressed the lack of information. Instead, they've gone out of their way to talk about the game's difficulty. Without providing players with proper information to work with, how can you make claims about the ...

It's with heavy heart I give this one a bad review, and like many before me, feel bummed there is not 'so-so' rating between Recommend or Not. Because the game is fun. Great art, fun tunes, fun system. Lots of combos, lots of units, all cutesy and alive and feel very tactile during the auto-combat, whcih is a lovely achievement. But the game sucks ass when it comes to explaining shit. Nothing makes sense, no info is given. It's hardline try and error. Numbers? Virtually meaningless. A Shield unit with 10 Defence will be 5x more durable than casters with 20 defence. A single caster with 50 attack will outshine a group with 100. That's not all - plenty of unit 'attacks' and abilities are not listed anywhere on the unit info screen. Had no idea that Priests heal units. Or that Siege Towers spawn mini-units. Or that Bombs roll at great speed. Basically most units have shitload of hidden properties and 'real stats' whcih makes it nigh impossible to strategize until you learn their idiosy...

Incredible game. Only 1.3 hours played but 40+ hours in the prologue so I know how fun this game is already. To me this is the most addicting game since Slay The Spire. There is so much depth to the units and how you place them. Can't say enough about how much I love this one. Buy Knightica, you will love it.
