Great music and the art style and animations are awesome. Even while I'm not the most rhythmically gifted person, I found out after a few rounds that you start to catch on the beat naturally and start to vibe with the mechanics naturally (kinda liked liked doing the solos in double time!), also I appreciate the Beat practice option in the menu as a warm up. The first run went quite smoothly, but as I unlocked skills and new difficulties it suddenly became quite challenging and noticed I needed to lock in more. It scratched the roguelike itch while making me feel now I wanna taste a bit more of rhythm games.

The game really grabbed my attention with the comic-like premise and amazing character art and designs. The overall plot being dripfed between successful runs is not unlike Hades' story progression, and it adds a layer of intrigue to the main character and how she ended up in such a grim predicament. Gameplay wise, the game is mostly successful. If you've played a vampire survivors-like game you'll be in familiar territory in terms of controls. You can make various builds to suit your preference, both with weapons and passive buffs. The rhythm aspect of gameplay is not perfect, as the tempo of the beat can go off track after an fps dip (playing on steamdeck), throwing you off for the remainder of the round. As another review mentioned, some runs I've encountered a bug where roxie doesn't get healed, which is frustrating as heals are the one of the stage-clear rewards you can select. Minor and fixable flaws aside, this game is a treat aesthetically, musically and narratively. This ...

KTM is the definition of a hidden gem within the rhythm genre. All 12 unlockable instruments are fun to use at least once and none of them feel like a copy of the same instrument just a different coat of paint...with exception of the keyboards maybe. Since it's got roguelite aspects there's tons of unlockables, and the per run upgrades/rewards you choose can make you super strong if you use the right instruments. Also the beat system is beginner friendly and you can even increase the on screen beat if you like a challenge! Rest assured this game is for all skill levels. All of the enemies are so sick. They're all unique and fun to fight and bring a new challenge as you increase absurdity level which keeps the game feeling fresh. Now the artwork and animation is truly something special. All of the musicians and enemies look awesome and feel unique to KTM, it's clear a lot of time and effort was put into design concepts. A few gripes: To me the story is by far the weakest part of this...

I'm just starting to get into this game, but dang !! good game !! First impressions are that the art/music are amazing. I'm not that much of a rhythm gamer person (so I don't know if this is common in the genre), but I really like that both attacking + dodging build the combo metre, and the ability to hold (at the cost of draining said metre) is great. If I'm feeling overwhelmed for a hot minute I just hold for a bit, clear some space/enemies, and get back into it. The choice of upgrades is nice, and so is the ability to decide difficulty/reward for each screen. Excited to sink more time into it.

I played this game back in beta and was very satisfied. Now the game has become even more interesting and better, except for one thing. Please tell me what's wrong with the input? Everything seems to be going well at the beginning of the song, and then suddenly everything breaks down, constant mistakes. The game implies that I get to the music on the background, but the bitrate or input lag spoil everything.

Super addictive and runs great on the Steam Deck. There's a really nice cadence to it, too; a good balance of intensities (a lot of player choice here). But I'll risk it all for the smell of a record fragment.

Yeah this game is sick and deserves more attention. There's some stuff that could be cleaned up or improved, sure, but it combines my two favorite things: rhythm games and swarm survivor roguelites. Music is good, art is interesting, character designs are neat. I don't really get what's going on in the story or with the characters after I select a starting instrument, but hey the game is fun. My only gripe right now is that you can't adjust the beat timing mid run, and there's no way to go to the menu without losing all progress that I can see. The beat timing adjustments are also not granular enough, and I can't seem to find the right sweet spot, so getting perfects consistently is awkward right now.

A great rhythm survivor game with plenty of style and an absolutely banging soundtrack.
