About This Game
Become a neophyte sorcerer, and get ready for your rite of passage: Enter the labyrinth and face dangerous challenges to prove your worth and become a powerful wizard!
The game focuses on fast-paced first person shooting, with an old-school vibe, and updated handling and game mechanics. Dungeon crawling and RPG/Roguelike elements are added into the mix, resulting in a fun, challenging and varied game, with lots of content to discover.
Fight almighty bosses, get through rooms filled with traps, and treasures that may help you in your journey... Each game is a whole new experience!
Unlike most Rogue-thingies, on Ziggurat your combat skills will be the most important asset to keep advancing. Leveling up and randomly generated content is there to improve variety and make each game different, not to make the game a roll dice or an unbearable grind.
Most perks are designed to change the way you have to play or the weapons you'll want to use. Do you want more speed in exchange for less health, or maybe is better to have mana regeneration? Increase drop rate, or refill ammo here and now? No number game here, simple and direct choices.
We've also ensured that, as a proper FPS game, the experience is quick and direct. There's no inventory to manage or the need to compare two almost equal item drops, just weapon selection, and mana/health are usually the bargaining chip.
A whole arsenal of magic and alchemic weapons will be at your disposal. Wreak havoc among your enemies, but watch your mana reserves or you might regret it later!
Magic staves, spellbooks, magic wands... dozens of weapons with different attack strategies that help keeping the game fresh!

fun lil indie game cool story fun gameplay replayable like crazy
As a dude who likes magic and the idea of being a wizard, I really thought I'd get into this. But I never have. It's not a bad FPS, and if you like Hexen/Heretic it's something to scratch the itch for some sequels. But I dunno. I never got into it.
A fun bullet-hell roguelike with magic spells with quite a lot of content for its price.
This is one of those games where the steam review forcing me to say IT GOOD or IT BAD doesn't fit. Don't get me wrong, the game has something to offer as a simple rogue-like that can probably operate on a potato battery and grandma's ghetto-rig. It's got A TON of unlocks to go for and the alt fires for weapons alongside run variables makes the run-ending builds stand out from one another fairly significantly. The movement is good, the 4 weapon belt is welcome, and the art style is reminiscent of the xbox 360 games with those rounded, bulky assets you probably remember nicely. For 15 bucks I can see someone putting in 15 hours and feeling fine enough to set it down. However, there's a couple crippling aspects that really deter from keeping the game's longevity of repeat runs from working. The enemies and the map designs. There's very little vertical thought put into this game, and with a decent capability for movement - to deny the player any freedom from the ground really hinders the ...
My actual play time is ~72 hrs (offline hrs were not tracked properly). Amazing game, but feels clunky after you've tried the sequel. Still a great game, but I'd say that the sequel Ziggurat 2 is upgrade in all directions!
Fantastic roguelike. Heaps of weapons, alternate firing modes, mix of enemies, mutators, and a nice sense of progression to boot if you survive. Upgrades and abilities obtained through a well-thought-out card system. Highly recommend for newcomers and veterans of the genre.
