About This Game

Wait: The Patient is a mystery horror game with strong influences (pertaining wholly to the atmosphere) from H.P. Lovecraft, the Silent Hill series and other games from the era of 3rd person survival horror games. It is a non-combat experience that consists of exploring, making decisions and solving riddles.

Story:

Based in in the mid '90s, the game follows Dr. Fincher, a psychologist who has recently begun working at a mental hospital until her typical work day gets disrupted by the arrival of a new, strange patient - a young man surrounded by an eery air. An ominous chemistry builds between the two, and at the same time, an onset of strange phenomena begins within the hospital. Dr. Fincher decides to investigate.

Time System:

Wait: The Patient is separated into time phases. Switching to the next phase will have time moving forward and in turn change things in the game world. Depending on your actions or decisions in one phase, circumstances may have changed in a following phase.

It is up to you when to switch phases, so there is no time limit and no need to rush.

The Bigger Picture:

This game itself is a sidestory of Wait - Extended, and while it is not directly related to the events of Wait - Extended, there may be characters and mentions of events that relate to the base game.

Each game can be enjoyed on its own, but for the complete picture it is recommended to play both, in any order as per the various potential endings of the first game.

Key Features:

  • Purely atmospheric horror with NO jump scares

  • Explore the hospital in all time phases and find all its secrets

  • Profound side quests that may change the outcome

  • Human Voiced cutscenes

Wait: The Patient is one of those games I eagerly waited for to release, because I'm a big fan of Wait - Extended, which was surprise hit game for me. Ps: No puns intended! The game follow Dr. Alice Fincher, a psychologist working at a mental hospital, through here shift. It starts with checking up on your patients until weird things start to happen and she tries to uncover what is going on in the hospital. While you try to uncover the mystery you have to solve a few puzzle, some of them are even optional at all, and face some horror moments, but the horror is purely atmospheric (no jumpscare or such). The game has no combat, but that doesn't mean you can't get a game over - won't say more, because it would spoiler things. Voice over in this game is only in cutscenes and some occasional instances, but this doesn't make it worse any worse, because important key moments in the story stand out due to it; also the creepy atmosphere is greatly underlinded through the soundtrack and soun...
