About This Game

Guide to Apocalypse is a narrative-driven, linear progression, multi-ending third-person zombie shooter game developed with Unreal Engine 5.
Beneath layers of foreshadowing, your choices will lead to dramatically different narrative branches.
In a post-virus world, experience your own version of reality, ideals, and romance.

Demo

I’m an indie game developer from China, and this is a solo project I’ve been creating entirely on my own.
The full version of the game includes four chapters. 
The First Chapter, covering roughly 25% of the full game, will be available as a free DEMO in about two months.

Background

2026: A major energy company is exposed for hiding nuclear contamination from seabed mining.

2028: Mutated parasitic outbreaks are reported among monkey populations on tropical islands, linked to contaminated seawater.

2029: Humanity devises three solutions—GeneMed Faction, Stellar Exodus Faction and BioStrike Faction—each faction acting independently.

2032: Your city faces an uncontrollable outbreak overnight.

Gameplay

Follow a linear progression in third-person perspective, countering over ten zombie types through various playstyles:

• Direct Combat: Engage enemies head-on with the dismemberment system and immersive hit feedback.

• Stealth Assassination: Use tools and environmental elements to silently eliminate threats.

• Parkour Style: With Unreal Engine’s motion-matching system, enjoy seamless parkour and fluid vaulting. Pair it with bullet-time skills to perform cinematic moves at any moment.

Game Scenes

Travel through richly designed locations, from traditional Chinese alleys and gardens to space launch bases, laboratories, and the vastness of space.

The game will also feature fantastical environments, along with diverse gameplay modes and character options.

Story

Play as James, an aerospace scientist and a key member of the Stellar Exodus Faction—a brave yet vulnerable character. Alongside your lover, Jasmine, you must confront the zombie crisis and embark on a perilous interstellar escape.

Spanning just four in-game days, the gripping storyline unfolds from the outbreak to the final escape into space. Your emotional choices shape distinct and dramatically different endings.

This game is dedicated to using its narrative and presentation to make a zombie shooter more than just a screen filled with blood and gore. Instead, it uses the game as a medium to provide players with an aesthetic experience:
