About This Game
In 1998 a special forces team is sent to investigate some bizarre murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. Upon arriving they are attacked by a pack of blood-thirsty dogs and are forced to take cover in a nearby mansion. But the scent of death hangs heavy in the air. Supplies are scarce as they struggle to stay alive.
Graphics
- More detailed graphics that retain the horror.
- The environments come alive with detail thanks to resolution upgrades and non-static 3D models.
- Post-processing effects like Bloom filters, which were not easy to do at the time of the original release, have been added to make the HD graphics even more realistic.
- High-Resolution Environments - We've increased the resolution of the background environments by recreating them with a mix of high-res static images, plus animated 3D models.
Widescreen Support
- Widescreen (16:9) is supported, so players can experience a greater sense of immersion.
- In widescreen mode, the screen will scroll. The parts of the screen that get cut off on the top and bottom will scroll into view automatically depending on the character's position.
- You can switch the display mode during gameplay in real time.
Sound & New Controls
- High-Quality Sound - The audio has been remastered to increase the sampling rate, and of course 5.1ch output is also now supported.
- New Controls
- You can play using the original control scheme or an alternate control scheme that lets you just push the analog stick to move in the direction you want to go.
- You can switch the control scheme during gameplay in real time.

A timeless classic, it has a vibe like no other games. You always feel stressed and wary, you only feel safe in save rooms, and the horror is really unpredictable, I really like the fixed camera system, it helps a lot for the claustrophobic aspect and gives a lot of great shots. It has a lot of replayability too, a good amount of content, an interesting lore, and the gameplay changes a lot depending who you pick between Chris and Jill, and god I love the soundscape/sound design. Really great work on this remastered, I enjoyed it a lot! (and hope some day we will have remastered of RE2 and RE3 with the same treatment)
Resident Evil HD Remastered (2015) Revisiting this classic after so many years reminded me just how masterful its atmosphere and art direction truly are. The Spencer Mansion still stands as one of the most iconic settings in survival horror its eerie silence, dimly lit corridors, and perfectly crafted tension never lose their edge. The soundtrack is equally haunting, seeping into every moment and amplifying the sense of dread. What surprised me most on this revisit was how much I still love the gameplay. It’s more enjoyable than Resident Evil 0, with pacing that feels almost perfect. Moving from the mansion to the courtyard and back again feels like a dark, elegant dance unfolding naturally while keeping you constantly on edge. And then there’s Lisa Trevor. Her design and tragic backstory remain one of the most disturbing creations in the series, a reminder of how Resident Evil can terrify not just with monsters, but with the horrors of humanity itself. This is where the legend...
Definitely a new fav of mine. I am already starting to miss the fixed camera angles...12/10. iconic.
Resident Evil HD Remaster is actually a remake in disguise. It revitalizes and adds new content to every single thing the original game from 1996 had. Sadly, there are some design decisions that could have been better handled, like for example adding an item box at the start of the game so you don't softlock yourself on your first playthrough for having a full inventory and being unable to discard items. And like the original, the game uses locked camera perspective and the tank controls have been partially improved, which makes it outdated by modern standards. Some people call it the perfect game for setting up the trend of survival horror, but there is always room for improvement, there are even some backgrounds that are way lower resolution than your character models and it takes away the inmersion. I give it a 8/10, but i wish Capcom gave it the same treatment they did for RE2 remake, minus the cut content.
Phenomenal game, still holds up incredibly well. The pre-rendered backgrounds look amazing, and the music and atmosphere are fantastic. Gameplay is tense, puzzles are challenging, and the story is great.
Unbelievably great game! Probably has the best atmosphere and horror in the whole franchise.
My first ever Resident Evil game, played full blind in normal difficulty i had the time of my life i did not think i would've liked this game so much. I'm not a fan of getting all achivements or doing ng+ runs or whatever so one playthrough was it for me. History is good, characters are amazing, puzzles and riddles are not that challenging as you get hints in the room for most of them and despite playing in normal you get plenty of heals/ammos so you don't struggle too much i was scared of getting short of save items but as you clear the enemies/open shortcuts backtracking the map gets easier. Lisa is my baby
This game is good! It's very fun and very satisfying. The beginning is a bit of a slog, but once the pace picks up, it becomes incredibly fun! Absolutely worth your time!
can't wait for this game to get a proper remake with 3rd person camera like re2 remake, its much better to play and more enjoyable, i finished this game with both chris and jill, i used to play a lot back in the day but 3rd person camera need more skill and is more fun.
