Engage in historical desert skirmishes reimagined with new gameplay content and upgraded visuals, faithfully reforged using the source artwork, music, returning voice talent and veteran developers of the original Stronghold.

Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition expands on the original game with 8 new playable units, 4 fresh AI lords to face off against and several additional campaigns. Play alone in 2 new historical campaigns and 4 'Sands of Time' skirmish trails or team up with a friend in the all-new co-op trail!

Dive into skirmish mode with the addition of player-requested features including larger map sizes, custom options and quality of life improvements. Complete with never-before-seen characters, soldiers, strongholds, campaigns and more, this definitive edition is designed to test your mettle while offering new graphics, upgraded from their original pre-rendered isometric glory.

Whether you’re flexing your might against 20 challenging AI lords, charging through the new co-op trail with a friend or simply marvelling at your majestic desert citadel, Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition allows veterans and newcomers alike to revisit a real-time strategy classic and play exactly the way they wish to.

Witness the struggle of wills between Richard the Lionheart, King of England, and Sultan Saladin, spearhead of the Islamic domain and founder of the Ayyubid dynasty. Command war-honed crusader warriors as they brave the merciless Arabian sands, then as Saladin lead a mighty army drawn from every corner of the Middle East to repel the invading zealots.

Don your Templar armour and relive wars that have shaped the world for a millennia, with historic campaigns from the First, Second and Third Crusades, as well as conflicts within the individual crusader states. Experience epic battles such as Nicaea, Heraclea and the sieges of Jerusalem and Antioch, rebuilt with new visual detail and a fully remastered soundtrack courtesy of legendary Stronghold series composer Robert L. Euvino.

I barely see a point in getting this over the old HD version. I find the visuals to be more or less the same but look more smudged. - Multiplayer has extreme delay even when ping is low. Issue was not present in HD version. - Map is always zoomed in to the max when game starts instead of remembering last setting (unless changed in setting). Seems to be related to higher resolutions screens, no issue on my smaller 1080p screen. - Hard to find the little - and + for map zoom. - AI still has OLD issues from the campaign where core buildings are missing making some missions way too easy. - AI still can not fix holes in the castles due to terrain. - Deleted feature "half hide" buildings (why??) - Hotkeys do not show when hovering over buildings - No scroll click camera panning - A lot of tiles are now bugged and can not be built on without any visual obstacle (Invisible trees/bushes?) - Unclear how to attack as ranged with skirmishers - Fire ballistas randomly do not shoot arrows - Quarry ...

a game called stronghold, where the last thing you would ever want to build is a stronghold, wherein maps are made challenging not by creating intelligent or effective enemy ai castles, but instead by making the player's economy about always starting in various maps of barren desserts where no food can grow, and no resources can be mined, BUT a magical marketplace sells raw resources for you to produce into finished goods to then sell back to the magical marketplace that gives you gold to reinvest into this cycle until you have infinite money. Every map plays the same; the only variety being how long you want to wait until deciding to end it with overwhelming forces and no tactics or strategy required.

Not bad at all for a remaster of a classical game. But it just exist as a nice remaster for fans, adult players who enjoyed it playing as a kid as I did.
"Greetings, Sire! The desert awaits you."
Picture this - It's 2005, my 5 year old butt is watching my dad play this gem of a game as he holds off sieges, juggles production and reputation like a circus clown and mow down castles with his hundreds of knights Now it's 2025 - Playing the remastered version and its co-op campaign with my old man. Both of us are suffering through the first mission and having a blast juggling resources between each other and mowing down enemy lords! Stronghold crusader: Definitive Edition is a castle-builder/colony sim RTS developed by Firefly Studios in 2002. The game was remastered in 2008 with an HD version. For those new to the stronghold franchise: The main gimmick about this game is that your way towards building most units or getting the most out of your economy is to manage a production chain and managing the town's logistics and your lord's reputation, all while building walls and defending them against waves of enemy units, and buildi...

Bought this to play multiplayer, but the delay is extremely high for some reason. This should be fixed first, instead of focusing on adding additional content.

I really enjoy the single-player experience – it brings back good memories. But there are two things that bother me. First is the current state of multiplayer: it’s laggy, and we can’t host dedicated servers or play over LAN. Second is the game’s price in Poland – it costs almost $5 more than in the USA, despite our lower purchasing power. https://steamdb.info/app/3024040/

Sadly the AI being so dumb makes all the improvements of the game useless. You won't face any challenge at all. Plus problems in multiplayer makes it insufferable.

Playing stronghold since 2002... First of all, in classic crusader first edition trail you literally can skip all current missions 1 to 50 like seriously why not like old version you can skip max 3... I tried half missions is no challenge AI opponents does not build a full base.. you can defend castles in early game with 20 archers and 1 tower all games because AI not attacking or sends few soldiers. I remember in old stronghold crusader for some missions you need to slow game speed to build good early defend. In this version you can play at max game speed with no problem... No strategy, no fun, no challenge... So sad in solo crusader extreme trail you cant turn off magic skill box. I don't tried yet new missions sand of time trail but I can't imagine how much fun it could be win in 30 min. to just earn gold medal... Very disappointed with the game...

First of all, I can't believe that a game from 2002 is better optimized than this one from 2025. People, if I have already paid 20 e for the game, I want to play and that it is valid, and not to get a half-assed thing. UNDER : 1. There is still a delay problem, there is a 1 to 2 second delay and it still causes problems in maneuvering when playing scrimish. 2. When the troops need to be marked under: 1 2 3: it's shot all the way and they won't mark my troops. 3. He won't dig water for me (I'm writing all this to you with scrimishes) 4. Miner is shot digging above ground and other troops can kill him. I still can't believe you can't make a decent game with that kind of budget, shame on you fix it ASAP so I can play as a human and not half a human
