7/10 I loved the original Electronic Super Joy, and Groove City is more of the same. Thumping bass, excellent beats, and frequent moans as you keep reloading and trying to get through that difficult spot and mutter to yourself about how you were so close, you were almost there... ESJ does a great job relative to other platformers of being quite challenging while also making sure that you can reload quickly and you're never losing too much progress. I think the thing that actually sets it apart is the way that it at times becomes sort of like a bullet hell game, where there's so much happening that you can feel your focus narrowing to a smaller and smaller portion of the screen, and then you jump to that next platform... right into the enemy that you should've seen standing there, but you were too focused to look ahead.
