About This Game

Primordialis is a physics-based roguelike fish builder. Unleash your creativity to defeat creatures using venomous tentacles, electrical shocks, or exploding children. The possibilities are endless. Explore the primordial depths to reveal its secrets and discover what lies beyond.

================================= Create ==================================

The core of Primordialis is its simple yet deep creature creation system. Your body is constructed out of cells which each have unique properties and functions. With over 60 cell types to place and combine, there are countless creative combinations you can use to engineer your perfect fish.
You are given the freedom to play how you want, whether you want to be a massive serpent that swallows other creatures whole or to tinker with complex mechanisms and circuitry. Your only limit is your imagination.

================================= Survive =================================

In the main rogue-like mode, you embark on a difficult journey of growth and evolution. Explore the world and learn to deal with a diverse ecosystem of hand-crafted enemies, all built using the same creature creation system as you. Discover cell types, mutations and more to help you survive in this harsh and brutal world. Traverse the 5 main biomes and discover what lies at the end.

You can also play in sandbox mode if you want to perfect your creature design plans before a run, study the biology of your enemies, or just enjoy some relaxed creature building.

Not a bad game at the current state. Quite unique concept similar to that in Spore cell stage but much more refined and deep. At the moment it is not as good as it could be tho. Some cells/concepts are hard to understand without a proper explanation or tutorial on what they do/how to use them. Sometimes you get no useful cells in your starter biome which means you cannot defeat the first boss and need to start over (bad RNG). You will die a lot, meaning you restart a lot which gets boring rather quickly as you meet the same creatures in the same biome with the same cells over and over, allowing you to only do very basic builds over and over. Fun starts with interesting builds which are quite possible from the 3rd biome where you can actually find a lot of cells and cook up something very funny to play but you get there rarely as the game is kinda challenging. Gonna recommend this since I see this as a fun little game that you can theoretically spend 100's of hours in and get creati...

Such a cool game. Imagine the first stage of spore but you have COMPLETE control over every bodily/brain function. Throw in some engineering and programming and you get this sandbox masterpiece. There are LITERALLY endless ways to create new creatures with unlimited ways to create new offense/defense/movement systems. Very cool, and I hope the updates keep coming, I feel like im finding kerbal space program in 2012 all over again.

tldr: It's just too expensive for what it is right now. Could be great when finished. You're probably here because you saw this on YouTube and got hyped for this re-imagining of the cell phase of Spore. So was I. In fact, I was so hyped I bought this for 17 euro's. Now I kind of regret that. The core mechanic looks great in principle, and is actually versatile, but almost never viable as a means of beating the game. There are explosives, lightning, acid, poison, lasers and spikes to use as weapons, the first 4 of which require such a specific mix of secondary cells that they will inevitably either kill you or get you killed for not having a complete build. And even if you do manage to find them, the build feels weak, fragile and likely to damage yourself. Lasers can only be found in higher levels (I think) can overheat and are also weak, and that leaves spikes as the only viable build. Which is kind of a let down. I've build homing explosives, a spinning acid sprayer, lightning rods,...

Great game, huge potential. Controls need a massive overhaul before I can recommend this to anyone. There's a reason no games other than snake use snake controls.

The drag reduction "upgrade" turns the game into an uncontrollable nightmare. Other issues that make the game "not fun" for me include * Zero account progression. Your first game is exactly like your fiftieth. * No saves or checkpoints. * No real guides and no one seems to know the rules of the game. * The game is only a couple hours long, but with frequent instant deaths (and my first game I just died without seeing whatever killed me at all) to pad play time. * Forums seem to lack concrete information and the fans are pretty toxic to people who have issues with the game. (git gud doesn't help when I died to nothing I could see) * Controls feel incredibly clunky and awkward.

Out of the gate there is so much potential for this game. I love the sandbox element where you can design any creature you want and possess enemies to see what their builds are. However, it is clear this is still in beta and I have some suggestions to make it more fun and balanced. 1. Spikes are too powerful. Most enemies can be defeated by just covering yourself in hard cells and spikes and enough heart cells. 2. Lightning cells, laser cells and such are too weak. They don't do enough damage to the enemies but do too much to you. I could be missing something but placing grounding cells probably won't help the lightning cells not kill themselves. 3. The map is a maze and not easy to navigate, I want a more thought out layout like set rooms that can spawn or something like in other rouge likes. Is it worth $20? No not right now. Could it be worth $20? Yes if more cells were effective and the map was easier to navigate. I would price it at $10 right now. I do have a lot left to learn a...
