I am giving it a thumbs down. I really like turn based games and rogue likes, but this game feels flag. Here are my issues) 1) Demo achievements don’t come over. 2) Progression does not seem interesting at all. Like, 5% discount on shop items? That doesn’t feel like it changes game play at all. 3) I did not get terribly far in the game, but there is NOT a lot of variability in the level design. 4) The potential is through the roof, the actual execution is really rough. If we could do more than shoot, there could be a lot more strategy. 5) The UI feels painful on controller. Trying to select the cell on the map can be a nightmare. Moving is okay but not great. Couldn’t they let the player move so many times and un-do it if they don’t want to commit? Displaying turn order would be really nice.

3 weapons that do the same thing, 3 short levels, 3 of the same bosses. Positives... you can play this entire game with one hand, so that's a plus
Although fun for a short roguelike xcom experience, it lacks a lot of proper balancing for me to recommend it to others. Some runs will be the most tedious effort because you didn't pick the obvious broken upgrades or get lucky with the first few items. A lot of enemy fights are a bit overwhelming but in a tedious way. You'll be fighting 5 guys and have to move 2-3 times between every 1 shot you take and repeat 100 times if you don't have the Op damage upgrades. Or you'll be running all the way back into past areas in order to cheese the fight, which doesn't feel great either. I think with some balance tweaking this could be a really fun experience.
While I had fun with my time in the game, it was incredibly short. Theres seemingly only 3 stages? I did beat it on my 2nd try. but kind of took the wind out my sails to want to play it more.
Way too reliant on slow meta progression. Would recommend at like 5$ or less.
After balancing update the game became much better. It's a fun and easy game when you get a hang of it. It's short, but once you complete it there is more to unlock and run the same 3 Chapters again on higher difficulties.
I clocked about six hours in Day of the Shell. Here’s my take as a player who beat it and unlocked most achievements. Summary of the Review: • What I Liked: The art style is a standout; clean, colorful, and fits the post-apocalyptic vibe. Performance was smooth with quick load times, and the pistol’s extra hearts added a neat tactical twist. • What I Didn’t Like: RNG rules too much. Bad runs ended at stage 2 or 3, and good ones carried me to the end by luck. Cover mechanics are unpolished, weapons lack variety (pistol outshines all), and replay value is near zero after six hours. Full Experience: My first run got me through the first world and its boss, but the second world crushed me. After several tries, I hit a lucky streak with power-ups like precision and freeze, blitzing to the final boss and winning. The “one-click, one-turn” concept hooked me initially, but the heavy RNG made it feel unfair. I loved the visual design, but the lack of exploration (despite th...
good rythm and gameplay, a bit short tho
Simple but highly enjoyable mix of Hades and XCOM. Not a ton of depth, the balancing is a bit off, it’s a bit repetitive and I wish there was more to unlock with the blue crystal currency at the end of the game. It looks great and runs perfectly at 30fps on my Steam Deck.
XCOM + Hades but with really bad upgrades, really bad bosses, and runs will take an eternity if you don't luck out with broken upgrade combos. Upgrades are balanced badly and those in the same tier can be completely useless or ridiculously overpowered. Metaprogression is glacial
