What an intriguing and well-made little game. A playable story, perhaps. Lovecraftian in the truest sense, wherein there's no corporeal entity save yourself, pondering, questioning, the things of antiquity. Things never meant for man to know. This can be finished in less than an hour, as the store page itself says, but that time is filled with cosmic dread beyond anything I've experienced in a game, and a curiousity that stirs and embeds itself in your mind. I feel changed, almost, by playing - experiencing, rather - this game. It's opened my eyes to the works of H.P. Lovecraft and given me a desire for more. I also love the use of AI generated art for the vision scenes. It's the perfect use for it - grotesque, unhuman, with neither shape nor form save that which we attribute to it. Though I can't help but ponder the unwholesome familiarity of the Nameless City, as if I had seen it before, in ages past, or in a dream perhaps. The game
The Nameless City is a narrative-driven first person adventure inspired by Lovecraft's short novel of the same name. It has lo-fi 3D graphics inspired by the PSX era and uses AI generated images to convey concepts alien to the human mind.A playthrough should take about 50 minutes. The game has some light puzzle elements, but the main focus of the game is exploring the ruins of the ancient city. You can save your progress and continue later, but it's recommended to play it in one sitting.
