About This Game

The ultimate Monster taming game for players more interested in battling and trying interesting team line-ups than grinding levels!

Every run is an opportunity to try new Monsters and combos, and takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete. Completing a run also unlocks a random Monster as a Starter option.

Each run you'll be presented with a limited number of options as you progress through each night's map, forcing you to make the most out of what you have and find hidden synergies wherever you can.

Each run begins by choosing a Monster (every Monster can be unlocked as a potential Starter). From there you’ll encounter Tombstones with Monsters to reanimate and add to your roster, giving you more options to build your ideal 2-Monster team for battle.

Great care has been taken to ensure that every Monster has it's own unique movepool and playstyle!

Choosing a Starter helps alleviate the randomness between runs, ensuring you always have a Monster you enjoy playing with. For those who prefer nuzlocke-style gameplay, a 'Pick Random Monster' option is available.

You start each turn with 3 Action Points (AP). Every Move has a cost, and you can use Moves from either Monster on your team – or both!

Chain together multiple Moves to unleash powerful combos and devastate your opponents.

Each night’s main objective is to return to the Necromancer’s Citadel in the middle of the map. Along the way you’ll encounter more Monsters to reanimate, powerful Move Tomes and passives, and unique enemies to face.

Your Monsters won't heal until you return to the Citadel at the end of the night, so you'll need to constantly rotate your team and potentially make difficult sacrifices to make it back.

Some Monsters won’t appear in a run until you unlock them by completing certain challenges, such as:

  • Using 9+ Moves in a turn

  • Dealing at least 99 Damage with a single Move

  • Using at least 7 different Monster Team combinations in a single run

  • Win a battle without using any Offensive Moves

And many more!

Super cool tactical turn based game! so many possibilities for monster combos! Super easy to get in to and still hours of combinations to experiment with. Also enjoyed playing with the kids over the shoulder helping with decision making.

i thought i'd try this game out and maybe do a few runs. I just won my second run through and checked the time played expecting it to be 90 mins or so. SIX HOURS. The game is dangerously good at getting you hooked once you find that sick combo that makes the your brain go BRRRRRR and the dopamine flow. Games just fun.

If you enjoy roguelike deckbuilding games and Pokémon-like game, or if you like retro-style games, I think Necromancer For A Week is worth trying. In this game, you collect monsters, teach them new skills, and then choose two of them to team up and defeat your enemies. The game has two major strengths: its artwork and music are excellent, maintaining high quality and consistency throughout. In addition, there are plenty of fun and powerful synergies designed for the monsters, making it exciting every time you acquire a new skill! Including the demo, I’ve already discovered at least three very powerful builds. Each offers a different gameplay experience, but all are strong in their own way. I recommend this game and look forward to future updates.

I bought this game after watching a let's player, AboboKnows, do a video on it. This game has consumed so much of my time in the last two weeks. For just $8, I have had more fun playing this than some AAA games. What starter you choose will change how you will approach a run. Will you pick the devastating Ausaroo and have her joey pelt the enemies with jabs or will you pick Pawmor to shatter your palms on the enemies faces. Each run will unlock new monsters to use on other runs. There are also objectives to unlock certain monsters like complete a battle only using offensive moves or apply 50+ poison stacks on an enemy. The wide variety of monster options and how each one plays is so interesting and unique. Do yourself a favor and definitely pick this game up, you will not regret it. The creator is very involved in updating and balancing this game so no worries about a stagnant game creator.

I played the demo a ton and waited for the full release. So far, it does not disappoint! It's still got the same cool art and sound, but with a lot more polish, and thanks to the additional monsters and balancing, the gameplay I fell in love with is even better. Fair difficulty and a simple interface makes it easy to combine monsters with synergies that are a bit deeper than they might initially seem. It's got a bit of monster collecting and sweet necromancer meets Pokemon theme that makes this cozy spooky and very enjoyable. I hope this hidden gem doesn't stay hidden for long. It's a solid, enjoyable game at a very fair price. Fun, short runs with simple battles that reward good planning and tactics.

Pretty fun little game. I would say worth the 8 bucks if you are bored and would like a little roguelike game to play a few times. I did 3 runs and won all 3 of them. Only once did I get close to losing. My first run, I stumbled into an infinite combo which allowed me to 1 shot both enemies round 1 everytime.

This game is BORING. It looks like it should be fun, but battles are these slow-paced, hardly-tactical situations. Click click click. Dead. Next. Nothing in between a battle is all that mesmerizing. The game isn't difficult either.

After finishing my first run, I can say this game really surprised me as someone who has rarely dipped into the Pokemon series. I really enjoyed the main gameplay loop and I can already see the potential replay value and the diverse range of strategies it has to offer. I'm looking forward to seeing what other combos i can create on the next run.

I really enjoyed this game, it has alot of strategy and each run is a different experience - as you play through the nights you are able to continue to both change strategy to beat the bosses or power up the monsters you enjoy playing with - It has great graphics that give off a nostalgic game boy vibe and i look forward to more runs each time.

Thumbs up just because this poor unit sale, respect the game design especially interesting monsters. But I won't play it anymore. The stylistic graphic made me no will to read these skills, the rouge level is also kind of normal. I guess Pokemon Rouge is still free and more challenging?
