This is more of a fanfiction than a prequel. It lasts all of an hour, nothing happens besides "there's a robot now, some people don't like those" and "a kid made a dumb promise, then grew up". The only good part is it's fairly cheap. As a huge fan of the actual novel, there was a very large feeling of "that's it?" and "what did any of that have to do with snow globes?" Like there's a throwaway line about them and the "story" is set in winter, that's about it. Also the complete incompetence of the two robo-handlers is odd to say the least. I really hate that I feel this way about it but it really is just a waste of time and money.

Short planetarian prequel. It kind of explains the origins and some of the world building stuff on the main game. Ending is kind of sweet. Wish they added more scenes but I think this is fine as a standalone.

I feel a little let down. Maybe if I hadn't read the original, I would have found this more heartwarming. But this prequel feels very inconsistent with what was suggested in the flashbacks of the original novel. Furthermore, I had an expectation that this would expand upon the events leading to what was the reality of the original novel. Instead, we have a story that doesn't even hint at the catastrophe yet to happen, and feels as if the main character isn't the same one as in the original novel.
