Let me start off by saying MOO2 was my favorite game growing up. This just doesn't quite do it for me. Im not sure why, but it feels flat. Maybe Im use to more complex games like Stellaris now? I will say after playing this game I went back and played MOO2 and, while super dated MOO2 still just hits. I'm going to give it a positive review, not because I think its awesome, but because I can't pinpoint why its bad.

Aside from some minor custom race balancing and some of the basic races from Moo2 locked behind a DLC wall I believe most of the original games is still there. I really enjoy some of the changes like the warp points and (even though some dislike them) the pirates. The pirates add some early game competition that albeit annoying adds some much needed combat before you meet other leaders. Its also nice having a lot more micromanagement/control in things like espionage and planet management. Its fun, stays relatively true to the previous games and I think the ability to add mods keeps some new stuff coming and doesn't get old like some of the CIV games.

Old School, but a very fun little time waster. For the price it really delivers an enjoyable experience.

Review: Master of Orion – Conquer the Stars ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ + When Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars released, fans like me were excited to see the legendary franchise revived. Unfortunately, while it tried to bring the series into the modern era, it ended up feeling more like a shallow echo than a true successor. Compared to Master of Orion 3, this one just didn’t capture the same depth, atmosphere, or soul that made the originals unforgettable. Pros: Improved Graphics: On the surface, the visuals are sharp and polished, with modern 3D models and shiny effects. Streamlined Gameplay: Easier for newcomers to pick up, with simplified mechanics and a cleaner interface. Nostalgia Factor: Seeing classic races return like the Psilons and Bulrathi brought back some fond memories. Cons: (Where it Falls Short) Cartoony Graphics: While technically better, the art direction feels too bright and silly. It loses the serious, immersive sci-fi vibe that defined the earlier games. Awesome, the only issue is the fighting in Multiplayer games is only auto resolve and not tactical. This was basically the only thing they really needed to do to make it epic and not a failed game.
