Bakeru is the kind of game people talk about on Twitter and /v/, asking "why don't they make this kind of game anymore?", and then when the game does exist, proceed to not buy and play it. Don't be one of those people. It's real good.

User Reviews
Worth if you're a fan of games 3D platformers or the Goemon series. Combat is fun and clean. The transformation are cool. Beautiful environments. Nice little feel for it. Great for kids too.
This game is simple, but fun. Several stages are mostly linear with several enemies scattered throughout the levels. It's go from point A to B with many enemies in between. There are also racing and shooters stages to mix in some variety. The levels seem like they were heavily influenced by modern Mario titles (what platformer isn't?). The game features several levels. Over 60 levels that last and average of 10 minutes each. These levels also lean on the easier side. The only time I found the game difficult was when I encountered overwhelming amount of enemies. Rarely did my character die. After a long play session, this game can become tedious at times. Still the game loves to through in a few surprises here and there. Other gripes I had with this game include a camera that doesn't always capture the action well and those mech fights I could've done without. Bakeru may not set the bar higher for the 3D platformer genre, but if you like the genre consider getting it. It may not be per...
Pure PS2 Energy (Complimentary)
While not being the most diverse in Gameplay and being very easy at the same time, I think this game is visually very fun and is a good brain off game. Once I stopped killing every single enemy and started just hopping through the levels trying to find the collectibles it became quite fun. The early levels are a bit boring but the further it goes the more fun it is.
3D beat'em up platformer with Japan's trivia. Love it and this game needs more recognition.
best 20 hours I spent in my life i found all the souivers the tanuki and the tea pot mech kaiju fights we're so fricken awesome
Bakeru is a decent game. There's nothing about it that's really outstanding but it's still has enough quality to be fun from start to finish. This game is worth buying on sale. I know keeping the game simple was the dev's intention and it was made more so for kids in mind, but I do think the simplicity holds the game back. For a game with an action focus, combat is fairly uninteresting and encounters can feel rather samey.
a japanese lesson wrapped up as a fun platformer. i digs.
absolutely one of the best games i've recently played, to the point i wanted to 100% it, there are somethings with it that were a drag (no option to reset the level your in / no overall stage select, auto scroll levels) but other than that a very nice and chill game i do recommend as a pick up and play, nothing to serious in terms of story but still a blast to play
