About This Game

A cryptic note draws you to an old mansion on a stormy night. Inside, the halls stretch and twist in ways they shouldn't, and the air is thick with something unseen. As you explore, you must solve cryptic puzzles, confront the residents, and unravel the past.

SOMNIFUGE is a first-person psychological horror game blending exploration, puzzle-solving, and surreal horror. Inspired by the haunting atmospheres of Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark, it embraces PSX-era visuals to create a world that feels both nostalgic and deeply unsettling.

From the creator of the popular indie horror shorts Burger & Frights and Dreader, SOMNIFUGE delivers a tense, atmospheric horror experience where nothing is as it seems.

Features:

  • The World: Explore the haunted mansion, a maze-like library, a twisted hospital ward, and more cursed locations.

  • Puzzle Solving: Crack the many cryptic puzzles.

  • Survival: Meet and escape the host of horrors.

  • Controller Support: The game has full 360 controller support.

Fun and clever puzzles, great spooky mansion atmosphere. I got so incredibly lost in the house, my playtime would probably a lot less if I wasn't constantly wandering from room to identical corridor trying to find a particular location. But I very much enjoyed it despite this. I didn't realise until I was near the end that there are hints available from the pause menu. I was often navigating back to the TV screen as occasionally a word would display that served as a cryptic but subtly helpful clue. A couple of fun jump scares, very creative game. Recommend!

i want to like somnifuge, i really do, but its so incredibly confusing. the puzzles first start off pretty easy; explore and collect vhs tapes, which give hints/reveal puzzle solutions. but as you progress through the game, the puzzle solutions get increasingly more confusing, making it impossible to progress without using the hints system. and as of the time im writing this review, theres no steam guides or walkthroughs to help with this (edit: i wrote a walkthrough/achievement guide for anyone struggling. hope it helps!). speaking of the hints system, i found myself struggling with it. when you use a hint, it gives a super vague answer. if you click it again, its supposed to give you a more straightforward solution. however, thats not exactly how it works. ive had times where i was unable to get a more in-depth hint, while other times, the more in-depth hint was just as confusing as the vague hint. considering the confusing puzzles and rather unhelpful hints, its really easy to hit...
