About This Game

You’re not a hero.

You’re just someone who woke up in a cold, broken world: with no memory, no future, and maybe no hope.

Will you figure out who you were?
Will you survive long enough to matter?

Navigate a post-apocalyptic town filled with factions, decay, and uncomfortable choices. Hunt rats, sell their meat, go mad from hunger, or maybe-somehow start a business.
Violence is risky. Even rats can kill you.
Money talks. Water is a privilege. And death? Always an option.

Who are you, and do you even care about the answer?

Because the World Died” is a post-apocalyptic indie game created with RPG Maker. I find this game very interesting; it’s not a typical jRPG game but more like an adventure game focused on dialogue, world exploration, and understanding the unfolding events. It eschews fighting randomized monsters on 2D backgrounds with stereotypical jRPG mechanics. The story and the overall atmosphere of the game are excellent. The main character must learn about the world and navigate through a large town where one could easily get lost. This aspect gives me a strong positive impression and a deep immersion into the game world. It contrasts with big AAA games that provide a giant map filled with “?” or other markers, and where all quests are indicated. Here, you really need a good memory or a pen and paper to track where, when, and why. I appreciate that the game doesn’t simplify things. All these elements, as I’ve already stated, make the game more immersive and realistic. This is quality...

The game is quite hard at the start, and at first I was unsure what to do. It's hard to restore stats and it was confusing, but it's doable: you need to rest in a nice hotel room with food in the inventory and drink clean water. Playing with friendly rats can help with the Sanity stat (only a few rats are friendly, look on the roofs). I like that each character is their own individual, and I like that I can own a pet rat in this

A bit more complex than average rpgmaker game, with a clear inspiration from early grim Fallout style post-apocalyptic feel and few easter eggs to that point.

A wild and quirky RPG from an indie developer that throws you into a harsh, post-apocalyptic world filled with interesting characters (most of them are terrible people) and crazy scenarios. You play as a survivor who has to make tough moral choices and navigate through dangerous situations. The game really makes you think about your actions. You’re constantly faced with tough moral decisions. The game sets obvious expectations about the plot, but then does something VERY different. I can't specify the exact length of the game, but there's a lot of side content and multiple endings. You might finish it in 6 hours, but it could take up to 12, I guess. You can also play as a girl! Just select this option while interacting with the TV (LOL) on the first map. However, "Because the World Died" does have its drawbacks: - Some language mistakes, likely due to the developer not being a native speaker, which may be irritating - Combat is essentially a dialogue tree with random mo...
