About This Game

Do you enjoy hack-n-slash but longed for a bit more? Maybe you like tower defense games but find them a bit boring? Heldric is a unique mix of the same old styles of game with a few new twists. A hack-n-slash without endless level grinding. A tower defense game with more action. A game where you don't play as an epic hero, but as a humble shoemaker who must work together with his fellow villagers to defend their home.

Build and upgrade the village quickly before the attack waves start. Each building you place adds unique abilities to not only the player's character, but your fellow villagers as well. You must choose your structures wisely, as there are only a limited amount of plots available on each map. Every villager contributes to your coin income and provides essential help in defending the town. You must help them defend against waves of monsters intent on killing everyone. Do you have what it takes to survive?

  • Build and upgrade town structures each with their own bonus effects and unlocks
  • Defend the village against monstrous waves of evil attacks of goblins, orcs, spiders, trolls and more
  • Protect the kingdom one village at a time in campaign mode
  • Randomized villagers, each with different amount of courage and weapon knowledge
  • Randomized monsters, each with different armor parts and weapons
  • Smash, kick, puncture and explode the enemy to send their corpse flying with rag-doll effects
  • Place explosive powder kegs as traps, or drop them in a group like grenades
  • Experience many rich and unique environments
  • Special events such as Christmas and Halloween that change normal maps and player
  • Bonus maps for special events with unique game play
  • Earn achievements from your success

Just updated with bonus Christmas, Halloween and other maps, improved graphics.

Great concept, lot of potential, but needs a lot of work. I know the developer said this was aimed at the casual gamer, but I think with more features it'd be a truly stand out game. Current issues as I see them are: Quite a few bugs Repetitive enemies / maps Not a lot of strategy needed for building / unit posistioning Lack of overall narrative With a bit more polish I'd change my review to recommended in a heartbeat.

It's an interesting concept, but it needs a lot of work. Pathfinding is very problematic, units slide across the screen, no real camera movement (other than a slight zoom in out), and bad/missing sound effects.

This is a great game with a more casual feel about it. Brilliant if you find yourself wanting to jump in and play for short periods at a time. The game itself has a nice feel about it and looks great. One of the most amazing parts is that it was made by just one single dev. He has continued to update this game from release and many of the negative reviews reflect release bugs that have been corrected or removed now. Althought the game is not 100% perfect, the few bugs and flaws are not game-breaking and in some way add to the charm of this nice little game. If you like tower defense games -- Give it a go. If you like hack and slash games -- Give it a go. If you are expecting something Diablo-esque -- Stop thinking that and give it a go! 7/10 - Great fun and the hours you can spend in this game make the pricetag well and truly worth it!

I think this is a good game for what it is, it's definitely not "dreadful" like some other indie games that come to mind. The developer stated that this is a casual game, and he is on spot with that statement, if you like flash games/arcade style defense games this is right up your alley. It's not ultra involved, but it's not supposed to be. I'd like to see them update it with some more variation modes like some other reviewers pointed out, and in that case it would cover a much larger scope, but as it stands it's an enjoyable little game with a very reasonable price tag.

The game is great in concept but the issues it has make it suffer far to much. There is no real camera movement, making moving across the map to upgrade buildings a real pain. Bad or repetitive sound effects. Repetitive enemies / maps Not a lot of strategy needed for building / unit positioning, or much that can be done with units. Combat is not that gripping. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbA5kpvl8hw&list=UU7_-PLIhjsEBwIQXqKxmNpA

The concept and idea's around it are great, I love the old DIY start from scratch and build your way up kinda game, but right now this game has alot to live up to. First of all a game of this genre/idea should automatically be a definate open world, not a set everything for the player so all he has to do to make an indefendable village is press a few buttons, Secondly the game is to easy, after making a fun open world adventure making the game a true survival is definatly a big key, resources should be scarse, or for the current games state, "in existance" and you should have to control your attacks rather than clicking on a single enemy and destroying an entire hoarde of goblins, Lastly is content, nobody likes a game where you are stuck with the same weapon and only have a couple enemy's to fight and a few buildings to build, we want lots of different weapons to suit our style of play, different enemy's to regularly challenge the player and multiple buildings so that theres an ele...

Well its a good concept, but the idea kinda falls flat with this game. not enought content for the price... and its only $10! I usually rate games based on how much i play them, even after winning "the game". so 100 hours in a $40 game is a good buy for me. this game just lacks the content to keep me entertained even for $10. there is 'challange' mode.. but why? it doesn't even work how I wished it would, there is no 'endless' mode, witch there is a BUTTON for it after you win every map, but you can't do it!? but I dont really even see a point in that, most games i have build everything there is to build by the end of the map and i'm just mashing 'next wave' due to boredom killing wild life. I want more buildings, higher level upgrades, bigger waves, catastrophic death! its fun for what it is, just need about another year of development before 'fun'.

Funny little tactical game. On the whole I like it. However two points make me angry: 1. Character is often stuck and cannot move or do anything. 2. AI occasionally wanders around and waits for something unclear. Also it would be nice if there were more content: weapon choices, upgrades, enemies, orders for villagers etc.

The game controls on this are right up there with Superman 64. The character goes from being stuck to lurching across the screen. Targeting is made difficult because of this clunky design. Got as far as the tutorial before bailing on it. The game is just barely churning along on my gaming laptop which makes no sense considering how low res everything is at maximum. I'm not concerned with graphics over playability, but the game's performance is a struggle at best.

I like the opening cutscenes. So hilarious. Okay, [Heldric] is not the great or 'deep' one as many pointed out. It reminds me of [Hinterland] in many ways. That's all. I have enjoyed [Hinterland] so much and have enjoyed [Heldric] too. But it's definitely not the one which we can recommend to everyone. Nevertheless, I myself think [Heldric] should receive more attention.
