I love this game, I've fully played it through once and I started again due to me being sad with how Tales of the Shire turned out, and I just wanted a more laid back Tolkien game to play that wasn't Shadow of Mordor (also GREAT game). I forgot how kinda wonky the building mechanics are as well as the consistent running back and forth, which gets really old after awhile. I understand that's the point of a survival game and all but nothing is more frustrating then when you get to the next objective and you don't have the needed items due to you having to purge your inventory MILES away and it's very easy to get lost in the mines. Obviously, as you progress, slowly but surely, you gain more inventory space as well as the ability to fast travel where needed, but by the time you get those perks it's kind of bitter sweet due to the sheer amount of back tracking that needs to be done. This is just my personal opinion as someone who isn't always "good" at games but just wants to enjoy them ...

About This Game
Summoned to the Misty Mountains by Lord Gimli Lockbearer, players take control of a company of Dwarves tasked to reclaim the lost spoils from the Dwarven homeland of Moria—known as Khazad-dûm or Dwarrowdelf—in the depths below their very feet. Their quest will require fortitude, delving deep into the Mines of Moria to recover its treasures.
Set in a procedurally generated Dwarven realm of Moria, no two adventures will be alike, and every expedition is traversable either solo or co-op online with companions. Players can mine to craft greater gear and resources, but beware mining makes noise, and noise created in the quiet deep threatens to awaken the dangers below: where there’s clatter, there’s combat. Excavate the mysteries of legendary mountains, extract precious metals, scrape to survive, and battle unspeakable forces to learn the secret of the Shadow that lurks within.

No wonder this game was on sale, hugely disappointing. Within the hour it becomes clear there are many problems, from poor and dated combat, repeat structures to loot, water at the base of chasms which loose all your gear, tiny areas to mine (in a dwarf mining game!!!! The game has been cheaply created off the back of a wonderful name, huge potential wasted. I'm asking for a refund after trying to love it for just shy of 5hrs and left with nothing but sadness in my heart . Enshrouded beats this game 100-1 and they're not even finished.
Basically Minecraft with a LoTR skin. The survival system of food and sleep is annoying and cycles way too quickly by default; as soon as you get to exploring and doing something, you must head back to camp to eat and sleep. The mobs don't scale well -- fights are generally either too easy, or too hard if you don't have high enough level gear. The fighting mechanics are clunky. Mining resources can be glitchy, with random floating tiny blobs of ores. When in building mode, things snap weird, making it difficult to impossible to build the way you might want to. The story is so minimal that if felt like an afterthought. This entire game feels like a cash grab built upon the LoTR name. Overall this game was very disappointing. Would not recommend to buy this game -- definitely don't pay full price.
Swing, Drink, Mine, Sing? This is the game for you.
I've been playing this game for about 60 hours on Epic because it was free, but it was so awesome that I decided to buy it on Steam to support the developer. The game experience is fantastic, the story is engaging, and it’s even more fun with friends stealing the loot hahaha. Y’all are gonna love the part where you can sing together with your friends (if you like that kind of stuff). The references are awesome if you’re a fan of LoTR.
Cons:

The combat is not polished.
Some graphic glitches can reduce gameplay.
Played about an hour of this game and then requested a refund. Combat is garbage, building is garbage. Could not get into it. Recommend spending your money elsewhere
an unrun grindfest where wood drops are ridiculously stingy yet everything needs wood. metal resources are also pretty scarce so progression is super slow. the time lapse is unbalanced and it becomes night too quickly early on and you end up getting f'ed by the night enemies. it doesn't really feel rewarding to explore with how much work it is and how many resources are needed to maintain your character. base building is boring and very limited. there are so many more base building sims that are way better balanced and fleshed out
Laughably bad procedural generation ruins the game. For stairs, either the bottom is blocked by other dwarven architecture or the top ends at nothing, either a solid wall or a drop off for no reason. There are rooms where a wall was simply never built, and beds in front of the missing wall, like it was intended to be a bedroom. These are just a few examples. The gameplay itself is ok, but the world is broken.
This is an updated review after more than 100 in game days and 48 hours on record. I would give this game more of a mixed review. I have seen clips but I not seen the Lord of the Ring, maybe if I know the genre more, I would like this game more but I'm judging this from a fan of the "Open World Survival Craft" genre. Overall, its not necessary a bad game, in fact I really like this game, however, It doesn't feel like a complete game. There are very few minor bugs (sometimes minable boulders spawning inside wall, or when using the waypoint stones, you'll get move forward to areas you shouldn't progress to yet), but it needs tons of polishing and updates before I can really recommend this. Like when enemy raid your base or just regular patrol, sometimes they'll spawn inside your base, bypassing any walls and they will attack everything. Unless you are in arm's reach to them, they will target your building (including storage and crafting stations) instead. There is also a lack of basic...
Combat is bad. It's very basic and clunky. Enemies spawn behind you and disappear. It's just lazy design and not one bit satisfying. It's not even rewarding because they drop useless stuff and there's no skill progression. Progression comes in the form of crafting higher tier weapon and armour which does more damage and have more hp respectively. That's all there is. The darkness of the mines is cool at first then it gets really tedious after the novelty wears off. Light radius is unrealistic. You build a torch and it only lights up a small fixed area. Another very lazy game design/game engine. The essential resources are finite and there's no warning. We had to stop playing because we ran out of salt. The only place to mine some was near the start of the game. After mining it all out and using them all, it becomes an essential requirement to progress the game at the late stage. I think there are some tedious ways to find salt or create new worlds just to get salt from them. However...
Excellent dwarf game that is a cool showcase of the dwarven halls of Moria. It has a few clunky moments but the dwarven soul and song makes it well worth playing together with your friends.
