I'm on a quest to finish 100% all Final Fantasy games including all the achievements. This game has lots of bugs but fortunatelly the FF13Fix, the 4GB patch and disabling sound enhancements in the soundcard settings (it gets rid of the annoying buzzing noise) could fix that for me. I played the whole game without a single crash. I found FFXIII-2 more enjoyable than the original FFXIII, which was not really something hard to accomplish. The story is still bad, but the battle system was improved. No more running back and forth through different maps to complete missions. Noel is a good new character, and the villain was also an upgrade over the original. And thank god there's no Vanille. I can't recommend this game because without the mods and the knowledge to fix the issues, which includes changing sound settings in the operating system, it's just unplayable. The audio has a loud and constant buzzing that was never patched.

Yes, but only if you're ready for the bugs, the feels, and a bit of patience. Pros: - Faster, more dynamic combat. You can finally jump. - Open-world-ish freedom compared to FFXIII’s hallway simulator. - Soundtrack experiments with new genres and it works. - Story moments hit you right in the emotions. Prepare to cry. - Space magic aesthetic is a refreshing change from the sci-fi look. - Leveling up is straightforward. As long as you keep leveling and upgrading your gear, you'll have no problem steamrolling the game and its bosses. Cons: - Buggier than FFXIII, especially in certain levels. - Character bonds aren't as strong as the original cast. - Some design choices (like endless enemy spawns) are just annoying. - Port quality feels lazy. Limited mod support. - The leveling system lacks depth. It’s a lot simpler than FFXIII's and doesn’t require much strategy. - Using trainers can easily break your save file. I learned the hard way. Final Verdict: A flawed ...

5/10 ... maybe 6/10. Story was convoluted and the world never really felt alive. I got the trilogy on sale for about 5.99 and I'd only recommend picking it up for a similar deal. Also kupo if kupo I have to kupo hear kupo that **** kupo thing again kupo I'll go kupo insane.

An interesting taming mechanic, but still a rather questionable entry — one that I ended up disliking more than liking.

broken port, that can be fixed, by downloading third party tools and disabling steam cloud. If you have alternative options to play this game, use it. Square doesn't give a damn about fixing it, despite it being on steam for more than 10 years. Game itself is fine, as far as I have played.

Runs perfectly after the two patches other people have mentioned. The game is really atmospheric at first and the music is great throughout, but the story and gameplay fall way short of the original Final Fantasy XIII. I don't really care much about any of the 2 (two!) main characters and there is just too much puzzle solving. Many things in this game are so hidden that they are almost impossible to find without a guide. So much time is spent just searching for things which is not that fun, especially not with the re-introduced random encounter system. Perhaps the worst of the gameplay elements is how there are only two "real" characters in battle and the third spot in your battle team will be a monster you have captured. Sure it's cool to have a Chocobo fighting with you but I would much rather have had a third playable character, with the ability to summon captured monsters just for their special attacks. Lastly, there is a casino with slot machines in the game with realistically...
