Pillars of Eternity was a love letter to Baldur's Gate and the titles that followed it. Obsidian Entertainment's sprawling RPG was a slice of warm and fuzzy nostalgia, updated for the modern gamer and now it's found its way to consoles as Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition. When i heard this game was coming out i was excited. One word of warning. theres alot of reading. i mean alot of reading in this game but from my point of view it helps with the immersion of the game and the understanding of it. The campaign narrative remains aligned with the same central details no matter what kind of race or class you choose, your character awakening as a 'Watcher', someone able to interpret others' past lives through their souls. It's a decent story with twists and turns galore as you attempt to get to the bottom of your newfound powers. You will meander throught the game/story trying to understand your overall role in this and on the way meet some great companions to help you. Shout...

I really enjoyed this game — it has everything you’d expect from a medieval isometric RPG, and it’s just as addictive as the best of the Baldur’s Gate classics. However, there’s one big downside for me: you reach the maximum level long before the end of the game. This feels very anticlimactic, as it takes away the sense of progression in the later stages. Because of that, I ended up abandoning the game before finishing it.

Decency's a funny thing. Most people have just enough of it to turn their noses up at something distasteful, but not enough to get their own hands dirty fixing it.

TLDR: If you're looking for an incredible world with deep lore and GREAT storytelling, THIS IS IT! For context, I'm part of the "Baldur's Gate 3 was my first CRPG crowd". I played this game with the goal of getting through it quickly so I could enjoy the sequel. I ended up dropping 70ish hours into my playthrough and played through the entire DLC main story as well (White March pt 1 and 2) and loved it. THE GOOD: - Music is incredible and has joined my retinue of chill video game work music - Voice acting and characters are memorable and spot on - Setting is immersive and feels alive (Defiance Bay blew my mind) - STORY and overall lore is top notch and makes me want to learn more and more about the world - CHOICES MATTER: your choices are literally loaded directly into your sequel save and have a huge impact on the state of the world. One of the most profound decision systems I've experienced. THE LESS GOOD: - Personally, I still prefer turn-based combat. I played ...

I've been trudging along through this game after really getting into CRPGs and this has been an incredibly frustrating game. I don't mean to be entirely negative, but if you are a new CRPG fan delving into past titles, I would highly recommend skipping this one until they add the planned turn-based mode. I have played Baldur's Gate 1-3, Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2, as well as Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire so far, and this game has ended up being wildly frustrating and I really don't think it's worth going back and playing. My biggest issue with the game so far is that it is just incredibly difficult once you get to Guilded Vale, the second area. The game gives you far too little EXP for the amount of enemies you kill. The game intentionally makes it impossible for you to know whether you can even kill an enemy or not if you haven't completed the bestiary entry for them. It doesn't give you any indication of what their level is so if you go into a new area THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED ...

This is a really good game that I have to play on 75 in. screen or bigger because the text is too small.

Great game, interesting story, plot takes a bit to get through if you want the best outcomes, but def worth it before heading into the second game.
