Okay, I'm gonna do something I don't normally do, and write a review before playing this game to its conclusion. I just can't help myself, I feel inspired. Or, in Motte-speak: "Help myself I can't, I feel inspire." The first problem with this game is the apparent lack of anyone on the design team who can speak English. This I don't mind, but surely someone in their broader social circle could have offered to do a quick proof-read of the game before releasing it commercially to the world at large? Hell, they could've asked the average six year-old on the internet. Pretty sure THEY would've worked out by now that "Maids are fight each other but suddenly stopped and tremble in the presence of Sarah" isn't a proper sentence. You do get used to it, though; we've all seen the Star Wars films, after all. It's just a shame that Yoda-speak isn't exactly conducive to maintaining a mood of spooky unease. But this is hardly the game's biggest impediment to greatness. The 2D, top-down...

Top-down horror/survival game. It starts out vague and boring, but as it progresses there's some pick-up to the plot. It's interesting that they added a variety of enemies to the game. I played it through during the 'key error' phase where you couldn't access it through steam, so my time playing it wasn't recorded. It's about 3-5 hours, give or take. A map would've been a nice addition because Motte Island is fairly large, and can be fairly confusing if you can't recall where to go or if you have a hard time finding your way around in games. One of the things that really got to me was dialogue, the game caught my eye because of it's artistic detail, I expected it to be well-rounded, but the dialogue didn't provide that. A game like this should be rich in dialogue I believe, it shouldn't solely depend on it's other elements. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but the dialogue really didn't make me enjoy the entire experience the game had to offer. I enjoyed some of the other elements broug...

Motte Island does enough to warrant a purchase from serious horror fans, but it has far too many problems for anybody on the fence or who isn’t a big fan of the genre. On one hand it’s atmospheric, creative, has some intelligent but simple (you choose if that last part is bad or not) game design, and did I mention the atmosphere? Seriously, there aren’t many 2-D games out there that can envelop you this well in a sense of actually existing within the game world. But on the other hand there are some incredibly amateurish or downright broken parts as well. The enemy AI is faulty sometimes failing to recognize you OR alternatively being Elder Scrolls levels of telepathic, the combat while really unforgiving at first becomes really simple once you figure out the trick, and perhaps the biggest issue I hold with the game is a terrible translation. I can get over the other two as the games sense of immersion wins out, but this last one flies in the face of that immersion and is by far...

I'm somewhat of a horror game coneseour. This game ranks up there with Darkwoods. The story, although somewhat of a trope with the same twist, I should have expected, caught me dilightfully off guard. The controls are slick especially the stealth aspects of the game, comming from someone who usually hates stealth games, that says a lot. The graphics, especially the lighting is great. I just love how the developer made the flashlight flicker, and they even added in my old trusty friend the radio. This game needs to be ported to other platforms. The sound design is great, while nothing spectacular, the soundtrack, although sort of what you'd expect is done really well, I love the rain effect, now just add in a bit of thunder and you've naild it. If you're a fan of horror, this game is ha hidden gem. What I would like to se more of: First off can we get a map please? Even if it's just a jpg you can print out and use. the feet should be animated. Even more story more dialogue. more...

Motte Island is a good horror game with a little bit everything. A scary cult, Scary monsters a sad story and a little bit of H.P lovecraft thrown inb But its not perfect some of the boesses can be a bit unfair and the monster's in the game jumb out of no were, Plus there is a little bit of unsolved mystery/unanswered questions, But nothing to big and some bugs but again nothing to big. So if you want get nice horror game with little bit of everything. This game is for you but you will die a lot in it and get a few jump scares too.

I highly recommend this game, purely for its terrifying atmosphere and music, even the main menu gives me shivers! Absolutely fantastic storyline, and many scary moments that'll make you jump out of your chair! Sure to be a classic for the top-down Horror games, just think of Hotline Miami crossed with a classic PS1 Silent Hill game! Also, can't help but love that Morgan Freeman voice on the Trailer ;) P.S: I thought there would have been at least 1 'motte' joke in the reviews/discussions :P
