It really sucks that I am leaving this with a negative review. This game is awesome and every moment that I play it I am genuinely having fun. The issue is that there are so many bugs in the game that is almost unplayable. In my 6 hours of gameplay the game has crashed 3 times, the voice chat sliders become unresponsive and set themselves to zero at random, I have gotten stuck inside walls or on a railing, my snowmobile has sent me to the stratosphere, other players have become invisible, my player has frozen and doesn't respond to key presses at random, the game drops to 5 fps randomly and will not return to a normal fps until restarting. As I said, this game is absolutely amazing. I just wish I could actually play it for more than 10 minutes without some form of game breaking bug happening. You better believe that I will be periodically re-downloading this game and checking if the bugs are fixed, and once they are I will change my review to positive in a heartbeat!

Scary, hilarious, tense, good fun. Anxiety peaking huddled in the dark after something has shut down the generator, the red emergency lighting dimly illuminating, that motion tracker beeps and is getting more frequent, you switch to your light source because there's a new shadow. Its grotesque from the creepy dog thing, to the lanky slenderman thing with a bulbous head, you panic as it roars/screams and switch to your weapon. Darkness, intense darkness as you fire into the dark hoping you get it. Maybe you took a hit, maybe a buddy did, you got seperated for a second and now they are back. Are you or them infected? Is that a real player or an infected? First session i played i followed a player not thinking anything of it just for them to tranform and attack me in the dark woods. Its a great game, only getting better, I hope people realise and choose to support the community.
Functional but needs A LOT of love and cleaning up, hope to see the developers give it some more shine and work before a full release, however I don't think you should buy this in its current state.
This game rocks! I wanted to review this game for awhile, but with the buggy update it was left in, I couldn't review it in good faith. Now with the Forest update, I am happily back and playing again. The atmosphere is immaculate in its winter setting. Running or driving through vast landscapes of ice and snow with something watching you just out of sight. A few notable highlights from my 45 hours of play: - One of my first games, after being stuck in the Oil Plant after an attack, the paranoia set in and guns were drawn in a stand-off, forcing people to test for infection and killing a one that refused. - Running from a slaughter at Base Camp 2 after three people were killed and having my companion ripped from the back of a snowmobile and devoured as we tried to get away. - Veering off the path and getting lost in a blizzard, only to be hunted down as I froze to death. - Fleeing across a glacier, having it crack, drowning one and separating me from my other companion. Alone. Freezin...
Is the game perfect no!!, did we wait a long time for things to get fixed yes!! is the core mechanics good and idea/gameplay fun yes!! I spent 16 hours playing this game when it was completely broken, but i still had fun so i would recommend this game for this price.
This game sucks ass. I have no idea how it has scraped a very positive score out of people. Everything is jank, you can drive into invisible walls and get stuck and blow up, piloting the helicopter is absolute trash, can't see a god damn thing in front of you. Just absolute fucking dog shit to be honest.
It has the potential to be fun, but I cannot express how much work actually needs to be done before it gets to that state
I really love this game despite its jank and had a lot of fun with it before the forest update, so leaving a negative review does hurt. With many of the bugs being fixed before that update's release, things were looking up for my friend group picking this game back up and seeing what was added without much issue. However, between lingering voice chat bugs and (what I have to guess are) the trees in the forest map causing my FPS to tank both in the menu and in the map itself, my friends and I have been unable to experience the new content. I can't recommend this game until there's more improvements made to the game's performance, which are overshadowing the many positives for me.
Nuclear Nightmare isn’t perfect, but for a small indie team, it’s an impressive achievement. The game nails tense, post-apocalyptic survival vibes, with eerie environments, creative enemy design, and a sense of dread that keeps you on edge. Some mechanics feel a bit rough around the edges—inventory management can be clunky, and certain puzzles or combat encounters could use more polish—but it’s clear the team is learning and improving with every update. If you enjoy survival horror with a personal, handcrafted touch, Nuclear Nightmare is worth diving into, and it’s exciting to see such a small team punching above its weight.
Lots of potential, but a couple things are keeping this game from being good: - The UI is terrible, glitchy, and needs to be revamped - Playsets don't save and settings seem to change everytime I play - The game is really unstable, crashing, soft-locking regularly, multiplayer issues - The in-game mic either sounds super quiet, or is blowing my ears out - Needs a mic output volume setting, if possible - The gameplay loop needs a LOT of work, whether you win OR lose you get a disappointing game over screen - Once you fall into the rhythm it just becomes tasks, hunker down at night, shoot, repeat, and gets stale quick - The gunplay is awful, sometimes the weapons just don't shoot where you're aiming - I understand having sway for your weapons, but the weapons feel so weird? Floaty? I can't quite describe it - Needs the ability to drop/give the ammo you pick up to other players I mean no offense to the devs, they've done an immaculate job with the visuals and atm...
