Hammering iron at high temperatures makes the weapon more resistant to strong impacts. Stretching, cutting, and rejoining the iron increases the weapon's flexibility, making it less likely to break. Quenching the heated iron in water ensures the blade remains sharp for longer.
Fortunately, this labyrinth is rich in resources. Chop wood to make charcoal and use it as fuel for the furnace. Mining stone may yield ore that can be smelted into fine iron bars. Discovering ore with good properties allows you to smelt it into iron bars, which can then be forged into more powerful weapons.
