About the Game

Enjoy a brand new dark fantasy detective action game from the minds behind the Danganronpa series!

A city of rain is gripped by innumerable unsolved mysteries, under the complete control of a megacorporation. Master Detectives from around the world, each possessing unique powers, must rise to the challenge of uncovering the truth. With Shinigami by his side, Yuma joins the investigation as a trainee of the detective agency.

The story progresses through investigation in the "real world" to collect clues needed to solve a case, then conquering the "Mystery Labyrinth" with the clues gathered.

Uncover the truth by making full use of your evidence in the Mystery Labyrinth.

[Investigation]

Take control of Yuma and explore Kanai Ward. Talk to people in the city and investigate crime scenes to collect "Solution Keys".

[Forensic Forte]

The detectives who investigate with Yuma have "Forensic Fortes," like "Postcognition" and "Disguise". They'll help find hidden clues and testimonies by utilizing these special abilities.

[Mystery Labyrinth]

As the investigation progresses, the "Mystery Labyrinth" will appear. The mysteries of the case materialize in the form of gimmicks and traps to attack you. Dodge them with the clues collected in the form of "Solution Keys".

[Reasoning Death Match]

In the Mystery Labyrinth, a "Mystery Phantom" appears to prevent you from finding the truth of the case. Fight back in fast-paced action sequences and slash through with a "Solution Blade"!

[Additional Content Outside the Main Story]

I cannot properly convey in words how disappointed I am with this game, but I'll try. I finished the Danganronpa trilogy, got all the achievements, even the irritating ones that mostly waste time, and thoroughly enjoyed my time with these games. Heck, even the controversial story from Danganronpa V3 did not stop me from having fun with them, so how is it that this spiritual continuation of the format is so unappealing to me? Well, the biggest issue would be that I just do not care, like at all and for a myriad of reasons, about what happens next. Characters: The protagonist Yuma is a wimpy, boring and not particularly skilled amnesiac (for an epic twist, I am sure) who is permanently joined by an annoying spirit (death god) who really got more and more on my nerves the longer she had to comment on anything. None of them showed any character progression in the course of my time with the game See, here is already one major difference to Danganronpa: even the most annoying characters...

this completely blew my expectations out of the water. I have so much to say that it wouldn't fit in here and I'd get lost so I won't say much. As for the game itself, I consider it to be long but I took on myself to play it entirely in japanese, even as the english patch came out halfway through, so I took considerably longer than you probably will. Still it doesn't feel dragged, or slow (for me at least), and all the reveals pay off in the end. I was always excited for the investigation parts and the "putting the pieces together" after. The minigames are fun too, even the ones with a time limit (sometimes a little too fast) weren't that stressful, I could say it was enjoyable. Extremely likable characters, and Shinigami-chan just does the heavy lifting here. I don't think anyone would dislike her, but if that were to be the case, she's probably a love or hate character. For me it's love; I love her jokes, sometimes breaking the 4th wall, her sarcasm, everything. This character's wri...

I wish I could give this game a sideways thumb. Great art direction. Terrible plot.

It's not danganronpa, but some of the cases brought back the feeling of playing one. The ending was bloody good in my opinion. Still cannot believe how badly you can attach to characters after a certain playtime. Love the character developments. Spoiler: [spoiler]The fact that everyones blood was pink wasn't unusual after danganronpa, but it's crazy how in the mystery labirinth Yuma's blood was always red. I should have noticed smh.[/spoiler]

Love the style, the plot, and the characters. It was so fun, there was never a moment of boredom for me. Love these characters so much, oh wait, I mentioned that already

While I think comparisons to its predecessor are inevitable, rain code has plenty of its own merits and flaws outside of being a spiritual successor to danganronpa. As an overall package I feel like it works pretty well. I liked most of the main cast, some of the mysteries caught me off guard, and I actually liked the way it all panned out in the end. If you like danganronpa or any other detective type games I suggest this one.

Another banger from Tookyo games and spike chunsoft. It has incredible characters, insane twists, and another spot in my list of favorites.

Yep, this was created by the Danganronpa developers, alright! I'm surprised this game isn't more popular. I think it's because this game isn't Danganronpa 4, but the developers took advantage of that and made something brand new, which I appreciate and I'd love to see a sequel someday. If you enjoyed the Danganronpa games, you should enjoy RAIN CODE as well.

The game and mechanics are good and episode one and two are good but it did not even start to make sense at episode 3 and it just went on and on and on... I will say that the plot twist is quite nice tho.
