This game has way more depth than I expected. It's also brutally difficult. There is a lot of heavily thematic story. It is kinda a multitasking challenge to keep up with matching color with the enemies while dodging their attacks. Especially once enemies start changing colors, too. You have a "veil" you can throw up for a second to delete all bullets (right click). You can shift your hue with space/alt or the mouse wheel. You attack with left click and aim with the mouse. You move with WASD. I haven't tried the controller support, but that sounds way better! Everything has like cooldowns, ranges, reload timers, speeds, and there's upgrades for all of that and the main upgrade system is color coded. So I can make my reload fastest when I'm magenta, then when I run out of ammo I want to shift magenta so I can reload faster. But maybe I want to be yellow, since that's where I put my armor upgrades? Major negatives are that it seems like it could use some revisions and the tex...

About This Game
Shoot and shift color in this short-run psychedelic action roguelite, in which you’ve committed a terrible sin. Fight through denial, piecing together your sad, wicked past from memory fragments and cryptic poems. Accept it. Atone.
Color is a key part of Chromocide's unique and challenging combat. The closer you are to your enemies in color, the more vulnerable they are to you. However, your color also determines your stats—your defense, your max health, your attack power, your attack range, your footspeed and so on! What color will you choose at a given moment of battle?
Think and act fast as you take on a total of over 60 enemies, many of which can shift their color too! Time spent fighting brings on the darkness, making more dangerous foes appear. When the darkness is full, panic begins…
SPAN THE VISIBLE SPECTRUM AND BEYOND
There are 120 colors for you to take on across the visible spectrum. And when the darkness is full, you'll have a chance to go beyond! Rain destruction upon your foes while ultraviolet, or feel their wrath if you have the misfortune of turning infrared!
LEVEL UP BY COLOR
Level up between battles in color-specific ways. For example, you might choose a yellow-centric boost to your rate of fire. The closer your color is to yellow at a given moment, the more this boost will apply. At the same time, you might choose a cyan-centric boost to your critical hit chance and a magenta-centric boost to how fast your ammo recharges! There are 16 stats that you can level up in total.
As you play, you'll unlock powerful bonus effects that trigger when you choose special level-up combinations!
EARN YOUR ATONEMENT
Win a run to begin unlocking special items, among which are burdens that make your runs harder in various ways. At the end of each burdened run, you'll progress towards unlocking new items and challenges and uncovering more of the nature of your sin.
Will you manage to win a fully burdened run and achieve absolution?
HEAR COLORFUL MUSIC
By shifting your color, you shift the game’s music. A cyan piano becomes a yellow yueqin or magenta music box as you span the visible spectrum.
ENJOY COLORBLIND SUPPORT
Chromocide accommodates colorblind vision by helping you tell how close you are to your enemies in color. The closer you are, the more visible their health bars are!
