I gave this game a good shot and was hype, The gameplay feel and visuals were good, but by the 1 and a half hour mark it became apparent that it has shockingly boring stage design that just dragged on and on with barely anything ever happening while the game just used the same template for the levels with the same switches and layouts over and over again. By the 2 and a half hour mark it was clear that this was quite literally the most boring side scroller I have ever played. I got to episode 4 of 12. Apparently it takes like 10-12 hours or so to finish the whole thing. If the game was that boring and tedious with the same stage templates by the 2 and a half hour mark, then I absolutely would never be bothered to play the whole thing. Shockingly boring. Beyond the anime scenes it tries to lure you in with to keep interest, it really is just a big, boring husk of filler stage templates and nothing much else.

This game could be very nice. Alas, it has the most awful controls settings I've ever seen. Get this: the left stick is used both to move AND aim. Do you want to stand still and aim? You can't. Why? Go fuck yourself that's why. Oh yeah, and imagine running, jumping and shooting at enemies in all directions, including backward. This feels so stupid it makes me angry. This is so wrong I can't believe nobody vetoed it. I won't play the game until they allow to move with the left stick and aim with the right one. Given many have already voiced their concerns about this and nothing happened (I don't even think it was acknowledged) I fully expect to ask for a refund in a few days.

Wow simply wow! Works flawlessly on Deck, controls are super responsive, graphics are beautiful and gameplay oh my! Amazingly fun, addictive and super fast paced! Only finished first mission, but can’t wait to see what’s coming 🙌🏼

It didn't attract me first but I waited for release since demo. Space Adventure Cobra setting goes well with 2D action platformer concept. I tested it both with keyboard+mouse and DualShock — fine control and no lags. Dev really represent classic anime atmosphere. Through levels you can find some secrets and try to beat 'timerecord'.

This is probably my favorite anime of all time. Not because it's the best quality, but because it's theme, characters, humor, writing, and world building are some of the most entertaining/original things I've ever seen. This game might have a few awkward issues like the controls to aim/move being bound to the same joystick, but if you're used to playing any retro games in the modern era, you'll be prepared to adapt to funky control schemes. I got used to it after about 20 minutes. I've played better games and I've played worse, but I've never played a Space Adventure Cobra game. Therefore I give any minor issues a pass so I can indulge in the nostalgia. I hope this title is successful enough to ignite more interest in the obscure IP's out there that are long overdue for their own modern games. Great job Magic Pockets! Thanks for liking the same things I do!

First impression.... Controls are jank, but workable if you use mouse and KB (and Yolomouse). Game has so much potential, I hope they smooth out the controls and add a aiming cursor for the mouse. It's really like playing a Cobra adventure. The levels have been fun and I'm having a great time. 10/10 soundtrack and art After beating the game... I ended up switching back to controller and it's not so bad if you use the aim button. It has a slight autoaim when you run and shoot. I swapped back to controller because the swimming section did not work with keyboard controls. It has a lot of soul and follows the IP and the style perfectly. The level design gets a bit tedious in the end. There are some annoying enemies and bosses but you get enough checkpoints to get through. There is so much potential because the art and music is spot on and the movement and level traversal is tight. It just starts to fall flat in the gameplay. It was not so bad that I couldn't finish, I still had a good tim...

Despite growing up in the 1970’s, I don’t actually remember ever seeing the T.V series but I thought it looks like something I’d enjoy, so I bought it & boy am I glad I did! I’m absolutely loving this game!!! It’s clearly very lovingly created & it’s a 10/10 from me. I love everything about it, from the story to the graphics to the gameplay & oh man, that funky soundtrack is to die for! Highly recommended. Also, you CAN stand still & aim/shoot. You just hold down [LB] I really don't understand why people don't like the controls. Perhaps adding an option for: [LS]-move, [RS]-aim would appease these discontented players but then they would need a controller with buttons on the back (for jump, mele, dodge & alternate fire). You can't please everyone I guess. This game is great though. All I want now is for this team to make a “Battle of the Planets” game! (G-Force/Gatchaman). That would be amazing!

Hellooooooo everyone, Cheesephobia is here I think I've played enough to say that this is now my favorite game. Sure, it has a few bugs, but hey, the game was released 2 days ago. I've read some reviews and I don't understand why people complain about the controls. In principle, I see no point in complaining about the controls if the game has the ability to customize it. Someone complained about the poor design of the locations, but I don't understand what else the developers had to add there so that it wouldn't be "boring". There are a bunch of secret locations here and there, the sniper mission is cool, underwater jail level is cool, the jail mission itself is fun because of the drons - If before that you could run freely around the map, now you have to make sure that you don't get caught by drones and keep your distance to throw a cigar at them. I haven't noticed any repeating map designs, they're all different. Thus, neither the design of the maps nor the controls is a problem and...

Decent platformer based on an anime so old school most people forgot it existed.

Space Adventure Cobra is a love letter to the fans of the eponymous 80's show, made by people who obviously revere the source material and tried to translate it as accurately as possible in a fast-paced sidescrolling action-platformer, sprinkled with a good dose of run and gun elements, divided in relatively lengthy but linear chapters covering all the Captain Nelson's treasure arc. Let's start with the presentation, which adopts a well-rendered cell-shaded visual identity that blends harmoniously with the original's aesthetics. The graphics won't rock your world but they are effective and even manage to provide some beautiful vistas during more scripted scenes which are really giving a quick peak in the wonders of Universe 0. The action is punctuated with excerpts from the show itself, complete with their original dubbing (when available). On this note, the actors who are voicing the in-engine cutscene do a stellar voice to emulate the work of their predecessors from the show (in F...
