Ever wanted to play Civilization but can't stand the slow turn-based system? This is the game for you. It's essentially just a real time version of Civilization and it's marvelous! Easily the best RTS hardly anyone ever plays. It's a shame all the attention is on the AOE series. I think Microsoft need to take the chance with a Rise of Nations sequel and give this series the respect it deserves.

The best game ever. Been playing for at least 20+ years. Still waiting for sequel!
The best RTS ever. Period. If you like Civilization and Age of Empires - try it out.
I remember getting this game on PC 20+ years ago when it came out and I always come back to it as it is my favourite RTS of all time. Everything about this game to me is what I wish most modern RTS titles would aspire to. It is basically Civilisation at the pace of AoE. I love sinking hours into the conquer the world campaign or a skirmish going through the ages. With the integration of the steam workshop it adds so much replayabiity with different scenarios and maps from the community. This game needs to same love Microsoft has given to AoE. This game needs a definitive addition or possibly a sequel! PLEASE MICROSOFT!
One of the most underrated and lesser know classic RTS' of all time. This game has a lot of features that I wish were in Age of Empires such as more civilizations to upgrade to, controlling a squad of units as one unit and actually seeing the territory lines move during battle... If you're looking for a classic early 2000s/late 90s type Real-time Strategy game with more depth but not over-complicated, then give this oldie-but-goldie a shot.
This is the best RTS ever made. Sure, others may look and sound more modern, but you will never encounter a better, all-encompassing strategic title.
Been playing since 2003. Fun mind numbing game.
great game
