This game feels like a huge step up from Rune Factory 5 in both the gameplay side and the technical side while providing a fresh change in the formula from the main series. I really liked the NPCs and their personal events felt much more fleshed out, I appreciate I had to actually put in some effort to raise their bond level this time around. The reason I leave a negative review is the DLC. You have to purchase the 'Seasons of Love' DLC bundle to unlock the ability to see the bonding events (their personal stories basically) and romance 2 of the NPCs in the game. This means if you happen to like these 2 NPCs and want to see their story or romance them you have to pay an additional $10 on top of already having to buy the base game. To me this is going a step too far, outfits and other cosmetics behind DLC is fine to me personally in these games but now Marvelous is locking actual game content that is already included in the game behind an additional purchase (The 2 NPCs in questi...

About the Game
The Celestial Collapse—a calamity caused by a colossal object crashing into the eastern lands known as Azuma. The devastating impact sent fragments of terrain to the skies above and the seas below. With the earth shattered, the power provided by the runes ceased to flow. The gods of nature vanished soon after. Mountains crumbled and fields withered, leaving the people with nothing…not even hope.
You awaken, startled by a dream of dueling dragons. You don’t remember how or why, but a voice resonates within you.
"Accept the power of an Earth Dancer. Use this power to save the land."
Experience Rune Factory reimagined! Guardians of Azuma is an all-new adventure that takes place in the never-before-seen eastern country of Azuma. Embrace your Earth Dancer powers and fight against the corruption spreading throughout Azuma to bring hope back to this once-prosperous land.
Bold New Abilities and Weapons
As an Earth Dancer, use the power of dance, sacred treasures, and fresh weapons like the Bow and Talisman to purify the land, your farms, and undo the Blight’s damage.
It Takes a Village
Don’t just mind the farm—rebuild entire villages! Construct and place buildings, enticing people to return to the villages and contribute. Revive the gods to bring vitality and valuable resources back to the plagued lands.
Your Fantasy Japanese Life
Experience beautiful Japanese-inspired character designs and aesthetics—from festivals, events, and monsters. Explore Azuma’s natural landscapes and its seasonal-themed locales steeped in tradition.
Classic Romance and Relationships
Choose between male and female protagonists, then befriend or romance any of the eligible candidates in fully voiced scenarios. Recruit these new friends to aid you in battle, too!

Gets boring fast. Even for a spinoff it's quite sad, same repetitive dialogue from npcs. Theres really not that much to explore even when that seemed to be the main point of the game, everything is oversimplified, combat, farming etc. Really expected more from that pricepoint.
This is not an outright bad game but it is most definitely mediocre and feels like it was published too early as it lacks polish. Here is the good: + sacred treasures are very fun to use and help you farm (but they are OP) + bosses are fun while at a low level with suboptimal gear, especially if you refrain from using sacred treasures + your party will usually catch up to your level easily so you don't have to bring them with you all the time + the bow is damn fun to use in aimed mode + combat is quite fun once you get used to chain perfect dodges + you fight the Sechs empire, a boss tries to intimidate you and says that name aloud, it sounds exactly how you think it does and ANNIHILATES any tension there was Here is a list of some of the things that suck: - the writing: generally mediocre with some stunning lows that take you right out of the game. Most attempts at humor fall flat, including a random dick joke, the wind God being a gamer in what looks like a medieval town. One of ...
Rune factory is one of my favorite series and I love this game, sure the farming is more simplified but it is a spin off, and not the first rf spin off to do it. getting to go to another country in rf expands the lore, and characters are fun, the story is great. its my favorite of the spin offs, and I really like the pacing
Very decent cozy game Pros: Game feels very alive, not a single moment feels dull. Innovative combat mechanics and memorable character bonds. Cons: Dungeons and enemies seem somewhat slightly repetitive. Managing a lot of things at once like villages from different areas can be quite overwhelming. Performance: Performs really well and stable at 60fps with medium-to-high settings especially during my testing on lower-end laptops. Overall Verdict: 8/10 - Highly recommend newcomers or returning players to the rune factory franchise to check this game out :) If you are still contemplating on whether to get Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma or Fantasy Life i, you can check out Miss Bubbles content on her yt channel!
Too simplistic.
Compared to the
Game is gloriously optimized which is probably the single biggest improvement we've seen since Rune Factory 5 released on switch. While RF5 didn't have issues on PC from my 200 hours playtime there, it was always on the back of my mind. RF Azuma though never had a problem running, and the only time it had issues was related to my difficulty mod (to be discussed) Story is cute (just try to not overthink it too hard at times), gameplay was fun and standard. The farming was enjoyable and much laid back when compared to mainline games. For a non-mainline game, I think I got a good RF fix. A few issues: 1)Hard difficulty is basically normal, so I had to go and download an external mod to basically x4-x8 my difficulty (x dmg, x health) and give me a good stressful fight with bosses. This did mean I risked crashes, but that was fine with me. 2) I played before the patch that allows you to adjust your villagers, but even then, I would only let my villagers take control of rice patties, o...
Fun, chill farming game. Lovely characters too.
It's like Animal crossing new horizons meets Fire emblem, and the characters are all actually really fun to get to know and building relationships with. The combat is pretty simple and straight forward, but still requires some skill, the village and farm building is fun, overall, I am really enjoying the base game.
