About This Game

Orbs of Chaos is a horde survivor action rogue-lite where you wield unholy orbs to cast powerful spells and defeat endless waves of enemies.

Each run lasts 21 minutes, during which you face 7 challenging bullet hell inspired bosses and thousands of enemies.

With 10 different starting spell sets, various items, talents, levels, and randomized enemy encounters, no two playthroughs are ever the same!

Become the Caster herself in the twisted Realm of Despair and embark on a journey of hatred.

Orb Combination

Before each run, you pick 3 out of 5 available orbs. During the run, you can combine these orbs to cast any of the 10 possible spells they create.

Corruption Tree

Earn Chaos Shards by killing bosses and spend them to corrupt yourself, gaining powerful permanent talents while making the Chaos stronger.

Current Features:

  • Chaos Mode: Customize game settings and access the overleveled spells. Push the limits, practice, and unleash chaos.
  • Corruption Tree: 20 permanent talents that make you even more lethal. (Talent number is currently rising and will be updated.)
  • 35 Powerful Spells: Combinations of Chaos unlock 35 unique spells in total. Some talents affect the outcomes of certain spells.
  • 5 Unique Orbs: 5 orbs mean 10 starting combinations, similar to having 10 different classes. Other than contributing to spells, each orb also has special auto-shooting abilities like knockback, life steal, and bouncing.
  • Secrets with their own enemies and bosses.
  • 7+ unique bosses.
  • 20+ unique items to be stronger in a different way each run.
  • 10+ unique enemy types, and they all spawn with a weakness towards an orb that the player has.
  • Music coming straight from the Chaos for each minute and for each boss, increasing energy/stress/anxiety constantly.
  • All hand-drawn retro pixel art. Thanks to Dad for drawing almost every artwork.

A game with a unique skill tree and art design. Each skill is weak when alone, but when mixed with other skills, it becomes much stronger. A picture filled with one color is flat. If you add other colors, the picture can become colorful and rich. However, you have to find new colors in your dreams. You will be afraid to fall asleep...

A very unique and refreshing take on the roguelike bullet hell genre. This isn't to say that the game is perfect but the developer is very attentive and constantly pushes updates. The visuals are what interested me in the beginning but the spell combination system is what really does make this game a replayable and interesting experience.

I'm not certain who this game is meant to appeal to exactly. It doesn't have passive combat like the typical vampire survivors style game. It's active combat is unnecessarily convoluted and micro management heavy. The skill upgrades are boring and have low impact small incremental changes. The spells are abhorrently poorly balanced, some do basically as little damage as the orbs themselves and last less than a second, others do 40x the standard damage multiple times and are basically just full area clears (same cooldowns, I'm not talking about the large cooldown spells). The orb combo mechanic could be fun, if there was more than 10 combinations for any 3 orbs that are always the same, this makes the combo less experimental and a fun discovery, and more just an annoying micro management of pressing 4 keys over and over again to change different spells, l/r mouse to activate them, and tab to look at the spells available when you could just as easily use the same exact buttons to ju...

Weird game, but fun and a novel take on the survivors genre. The artstyle will probably be a turn-off to a lot of players, but I liked it a lot. The game does need a bit more work though imo. Navigating the menus is a pain, and while steam stays the game has partial controller support, I wasn't able to do anything with it (first game I could only cast spells but not move, later I tried again and after trying to change keybindings the game stopped responding at all to the controller), though it must be mentioned that the game tells you controller support is experimental. All in all the game is cheap (especially on a sale) and well worth it if you're into the genre and want to try something new.

It's like playing as Invoker from Dota 2 while playing Vampire Survivors. This is the best underrated game I've ever played.

i loved the art style and music. it is an original and creative game, which is the reason this review is positive. loved it being this much of a sandbox roguelike with different game modes. biggest down side is the learning curve. there is too much combinations of spells to choose form that it gets exhausting. i love these kind of difficulties in games but this felt like too much and there was not a worthy hook that kept me in. game just needs a better tutorial rather than text walls. a little assist on learning the dynamics between the mechanics would suffice and keep your approach of "we wanted the players to figure out the game" safe
