The visuals and audio are great, but in terms of gameplay I think the game loses me a bit on the later stages. It seems like a cozy game but gets quite hard/frustrating after a certain amount of stages. You basically have to manage your light and if you make a slight misstep you might end up dead 2-3 steps before reaching your base to refill. If you die you lose your inventory and your upgrades to your lamp, so after death you repeat the early farming stage for lamp upgrades. This is not difficult it just takes some time, and you already know if you die you have to do this all over again. In my case I was stuck on I think stage 6 or 7 and just kept on dying, only to not touch the game for like a week, come back, make progress and die again after repeating the farming part. The base priniciple is neat, but I was not having a great time on the later stages and after coming back to the game for about the 5th time I decided to drop it. I think the cozy vibe and the gameplay don't mesh w...

It's kind of neither here nor there Here's the deal: early-game here requires somewhat intense resource management as you can barely make it a few screens away from the village before running out of ember and perishing. Then you gradually upgrade your lantern to the point where your primary enemy will be your greed. So if you're here for a cozy time, you'll hate the early-game and perhaps like the mid/late-game, and if you like a challenge, you'll love the early game and might not like watching your character leisurely walk over a hundred-something tiles before you find something interesting (and possibly have to walk back for a recharge if you can't find a teleporter nearby). There are also other little inconveniences - e.g. anything you couldn't fit in your inventory will be lost whenever you advance the village to the next level, so you can't stockpile quest materials or harder-to-get biome-specific ones; there's a limit for how much you can upgrade one or other stat, but you'll ...
Player can't save during the tutorial. Look, 2 tasks and 5 mins later, this is boring and I want to stop and pick it up later. I can't save, even before the nonsense below. It was just so slow that after the two initial objectives, I wanted out. During the tutorial, I bought some scrap at a vending machine and was asked to use a special axe to harvest some trees and use the materials to repair a toolshed. While I thought I was donating the material at the toolshed, I apparently was just discarding it into the void (never to be seen again). Now I have no scrap, the vending machine won't give me more, and I can't complete the tutorial, nor can I save and quit. Unrelated fundamental gripe, the `ESC` key needs to escape the current sequence. If I have a dialogue up and hit `ESC`, it just gives me a pause menu. In any app, `ESC` should always ESCAPE the current function, then bring up whatever menu once there is nothing left to escape, because it is an ESCAPE key. Refund time! Might b...
I really want to like this game but it seems a bit lackluster to me. The gameplay doesn't change much and there isn't much that kept me interested, it all just feels like a series of fetch quests with too limiting resource management.
I enjoyed this game but ultimately the lamp mechanic is too limiting and unforgiving. I had a 70 fuel lamp and died 1 step away from base, no like 1 or 2 steps to stumble or the last second chance to burn items for a last ditch effort, you just die. Losing all of your lamp upgrades, coin upgrades, and storage upgrades is really, really demoralizing especially when you need to travel a far distance just to get enough resources to get more resources. I was stuck with no money and no axe and surrounded by forest for a bit, now if I play again I have to deal with rebuilding all of that all over again except even worse since I already got everything nearby. Other issues/QoL changes I'd like - a way to show the map as a grid/have outlines for the blocks of land so it's easier to guage how far something is. - Maybe an item that tracks the minimal steps to get back to base, perhaps even a trail back or auto return. - Fast walking/running at base, I don't mind the character slowly carefully ...
fun at first but later on you will just realize that it is just another fetch this fetch that game.
recomend if you like games about building villages and exploring this game is for you
Though the tutorial is a bit buggy, this game is well worth it's price-tag! Into the Emberlands sees you traveling through Miasma to find lost lightbearers and upgrading your village with all the resources you can to help the Emberland grow! It's an adorable cozy game, but still challenging at times!
i forgor the way back and died, 10/10.
Cute game with a simple gameplay loop. The art really carries it for me, everything is very blobby and cute.
