Your starship is a mighty and terrible vessel, brimming with arcane technology and devastating weapons. Harness your ship's weapons, modules, and reactor power to maximize your combat potential.

Powerful Combos

Arrange your upgrades into powerful combos and use them to surgically dismantle your enemies. But watch out. They can do exactly the same to you.

Build Your Crew

Enlist crew from six different factions. Customize them with a vast array of wargear and engage in bloody, strategic boarding actions against enemy craft. Watch them crush their foes or die horrifically in the frenzy of void warfare.

Everchanging Galaxy

I lost my save due to a mishap with Steam Cloud, which was mostly my fault. I made a post about it on the developer's Discord server, and they made me a custom save file to restore my progress. 10/10 customer service.

people are crying that its an ftl clone, but thats the whole point. FTL 2 was never going to come out, and the FTL devs are cool with it. Basically this is the fan made sequel. Also the theme-ing is way better in this game, so is the gameplay. overall 10/10 everything i would imagine space combat to be for a certain battlemace 3.99c universe

Give this game mod support and it will be one of the most glorious things conceived on steam in the past months.

Final boss, we both had 4 hull integrity left after a long and bitter fight. I sent my commander into the enemy ship to fight the death cult champion. We fought until both our ships blew up. It was so epic, I highly recommend this game.

The developers of Void War have given us a (very much a legally distinct) FTL-style Warhammer game in which you can: - Recruit legally distinct Space Marines and have them fight alongside psyker cultists and demonspawn; - Raid and pillage the ruins within the not-Eye of Chaos, for the glory of the Chaos Gods with a squad of not-Mechanicus battle droids; - Run a warship with a skeleton crew, while suicide charging the enemy ships with waves of electrified servitors; - Kill an entire room with a legally distinct Nurgle Space Marine fart cloud and have nearby allies actively benefitting from its poisonous effect. Games Workshop, eat your heart out. Okay, now since the not-Emperor is dead on his not-Golden Throne and the not-Imperium of Man is crumbling, when do I get to 1v1 not-Horus?

Feels pre-pre-pre-pre-pre alpha, in its current state just feels like FTL but worse in every way, none of the battles feel satisfying in any way and the game is so trivially easy you can just turn on autofire and fall asleep. It has some nice ideas like crew equipment but the execution of everything is this game is very poor. All the weapons look the same so its hard to tell them apart without reading their descriptions, they tried too hard to go for a certain artstyle and sacrificed readability and clarity heavily. Might be worth a buy at a heavy discount or once the game has received a lot more updates.

Void War plunges you into a dying universe where every battle feels like your last. The combat is brutal, the stakes are high, and the art is bleak, beautiful, and unforgettable. It’s a grimdark masterpiece that makes you stare into the abyss and admire the view.

Too many game ending events. I understand this game is supposed to be harder than FTL, but the amount of just RNG events that will cripple you in ways that are extremely hard to recover from with certain builds is just too high to recommend at this time. I get that roguelikes are supposed to have fail states, but even the spider event was a choice, not a "Poof, here are three high tier demons!"

Only giving this a negative because there aren't more nuanced options on steam - do wish there was a way to provide criticism without just "yes or no". Firstly the game is really fun the first few times you play it and provides a really addictive gameplay loop. But becomes a frustrating grind-fest after your first handful or so of victories. The issue is how bosses are a) how the bosses are setup, b) the system for unlocking new ships and c) possessed ships and oxygen. These in conjunction disincentivises trying different strategies and higher difficulties (torment levels) above normal and torment 1. The bosses have too many rooms and systems. This means the only reliable way to beat them is by summon spamming. This would sorta be fine if winning with specific ships wasn't the main way of unlocking new ships. You are incentivised to play the same strategy every-time and to play on lower difficulties lest you waste an hour+ of your time. You don't get nearly enough credi...
