I've played about an hour of this game, and I think I can say this game is really something, considering it's a somewhat clever mix of classic games like Galaga and Ice Climbers. This game offers three distinct modes, one being a classic arcade mode with simplistic charming style, and the other two being a unique Endless and Campaign modes that introduce the graphics as if it were included in a PlayStation/Saturn era arcade collection, which is a really neat touch. As for the gameplay itself, it's not too difficult to understand everything, but it does prove to be challenging and requires the player to be on their toes with certain platforms and enemies. I got to Round 27 on Arcade Mode and beat the default Hi-Score which says enough about how much I got into it. Though if there's one thing I could pick at, it's the fact that I didn't know there was screen wrapping at all. Maybe some sort of intro tutorial for first time players might helped... but it doesn't ruin the experience at ...

About This Game
The troublesome bugs of Insect Tower took Hop's wings! To get them back, you'll have to chase speedy Wasps and face three kinds of fearsome Flies through five floors of exciting shoot 'em up platforming action. It's up to you to help Hop the Dodo Bird as he hops to the top!
Watch out for tricks and traps, special score items, and even power-up platforms that'll help you turn the tide! Master each insect's specific patterns to score big and blow 'em away!
HOP TOP features 3 modes of play. In Campaign Mode, you'll guide Hop on his quest through the treacherous tower. In Endless Mode, you'll challenge countless waves of bugs and aim for the highest score! Finally, the Arcade Mode honors HOP TOP's arcade origins and shows what it could've been if it really was released back then.
Whichever mode you choose, pick-up-and-play fun awaits you.

First of all, I think this game has tried to be like an arcade game. While I think the attempt is mostly excuted well, there are a few things ( like the base of the game ) that I think are a little off here. For the gameplay, it feels like Doodle Jump and Gaplus had a child and while that sounds fun as an idea. Though, once you play it feels as if there isn't much more than the above concepts. While I like the presentation on the menus and the "arrangment" parts of the game but I do think that in some places it doesn't hit the true feeling of an arcade game. The music in this game though, I thought was fantastic as it sounds exactly like NAMCO's own "NAMCO Classic Collection VOL 1 & 2", I think it fits perfectly with what the game wanted to be. Somethings I noticed while playing was: In my input menu, there was a missing G in the GAMEPAD START prompt, this might just be an intended limitation for the text? I was able to do spike passthrough and hop on them once happens sometimes ...
Great arcade experience, cute characters, snazzy music, multiple modes for those looking for something more in line with remakes of classics such as the ones made by Namco, or for people who want to play till they run out of lives. Grab it, play it, put your name at the top of the in game scoreboard, feel the sweet dopamine rush of wiping out wave after wave and climbing to the top
i love this game to death
Rubbing your tummy and patting your head the arcade game!
Hoptop is an adorable little gem and nails the feeling of an arcade classic you'd find on the xbox live arcade circa 2009
A love letter to Taito Corporation games, Hop Top is a charming and deceptively difficult infinite-scrolling puzzle platformer galaga space invaders mashup THING where you play as Hop, a bird who got his wings stolen and is now climbing a tower to the moon in an attempt to get them back. Charming, great sound design, lovely artwork and addictive gameplay
