About This Game

This War of Mine: Final Cut contains all the updates and free expansions released so far and introduces not only a new scenario but also expands all scenarios with the locations known from Stories DLCs - even if you don’t own those. In short words - that means you can now experience lots of never-seen-before playthroughs and struggle with new challenges.

Main changes:

  • Remastered versions of all the classic locations

  • One new classic scenario and a brand-new character

  • New quests and locations added to the original game

  • Vanilla version of the game

ABOUT THIS WAR OF MINE:

In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.

The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive.

Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

This War of Mine - main features:

  • Inspired by real-life events

  • Control your survivors and manage your shelter

  • Craft weapons, alcohol, beds or stoves – anything that helps you survive

  • Make decisions - an often unforgiving and emotionally difficult experience

  • Randomized world and characters every time you start a new game

  • Charcoal-stylized aesthetics to complement the game's theme

The universe of This War of Mine has been expanded by following DLCs:

  • The Little Ones - explores the hardships of wartime survival as seen from an entirely new perspective - that of a child.

  • This War of Mine: Stories DLCs:

    • Episode 1: The Father's Promise – a heartbreaking tale of loss and hope in a war-torn city

    • Episode 2: The Last Broadcast – where, as a radio operator, you are going to face moral dilemmas and decide, whether there is a price too high for the truth

    • Episode 3: Fading Embers – portrays a story of Anja living in a warzone and carrying a heavy burden as she has to answer to herself what is more important - survival of human legacy or the survival of a man

Probably one of my all time favourites and hands down one of the best written games ever. Game mechanics are simple, yet engaging and challenging, but the tragic stories of each of the characters in the game are so well written and they have to live with each and every one of the tough choices you make. This game truly makes you realise war is hell.

For all intents and purposes, this is a base management game with some decent combat. However, its setting and how that affects the gameplay make it amazing and a real heartstring-tugger. This War of Mine makes you play as the poor, unlucky civilians in a city under siege… and holy fuck, it’s awful being a civvy in a place like this. The game gives you moral choices and tests that make you question your planning. It wants you to look at your people as people, not just as characters you control in a bad situation to “win” — and it does a splendid job at that.

I like this game. It really reveals the horrors of war and the horrifying reality for citizens caught in the crossfire. I would definitely recommend playing it. However, I don't like particularly like the combat. I would have preferred that the combat mode switched the game into a WASD mode, where you can then shoot without having any concern of accidentally moving around. You REALLY notice the glaring issues in the combat if you are fighting in a level with ladders. If you try to shoot at someone at the bottom of a ladder, your character WILL slide down it and immediately be shot in the head. If you want to get this game, do, but beware of levels with ladders. Quick pro tip: if you want a weapon in the early game, get a knife, go to the supermarket, and sneak attack the soldier after getting close to him. Then, steal his gun and kill the soldier on the second level.

The game is way to difficult to enjoy. Also, it provides absolutely no tutorial for player to get accustomed with it's mechanics. In my opinion it also lacks the difficulty setting. Too bad, because I felt like it had potential, but I grew tired with it very quick because each attempt ended up as a waste of time due to how hard it is, without knowledge of how to exploit the mechanics.

This War of Mine – Survival at Its Most Brutal I absolutely love this game. I’ve played through it multiple times, and it never gets old. I thrive on these kinds of survival experiences where every decision matters. The stories are the best part—heartbreaking, emotional, and different every time you play. I originally got it on Epic, but I loved it so much that I picked it up again on Steam with all the DLC during a sale. Totally worth it. ⭐ 10/10 – A powerful survival experience that sticks with you.

This War of Mine is a haunting, emotional survival experience that shows the civilian side of war. Instead of being a soldier, you play as ordinary people trying to survive in a besieged city — scavenging for food, crafting essentials, and making heartbreaking moral choices. The atmosphere is dark and oppressive, the art style is beautiful yet bleak, and every decision carries real weight. It’s not just a game, but a powerful commentary on the cost of war. If you’re looking for a survival game with depth, meaning, and impact, This War of Mine is unforgettable.

Immersive and profound, I played it long before I purchased it on Steam. Highly recommended for those into managing resources and also deep stories and well-developed characters.

I remember seeing the game a long time ago and immediately being drawn in by its atmosphere. Now that I have played, I am pleased to say that the excellent atmosphere of the game lived up to every bit of my expectation. Highly recc to anyone who likes atmospheric games and survival management games.
