In some ways RefleX feels like the awkward middle child of the Alltynex trilogy, but it's still a good game. The reflection mechanic is fun to use, the bosses are creative and varied, and there's more of an emphasis on story than in the other 2 games. One downside however is its length: this is easily the longest title in the series, and the stages feel like they can drag on at times. The mechanics are also a bit limited when compared to Kamui or Alltynex Second, as almost everything revolves around using your ship's shield. It's a different experience, for sure. The zodiac symbolism found throughout the game is pretty cool, and while the visuals look they hadn’t evolved much since Kamui (especially those flat backgrounds), Siter Skain's ship designs have always been excellent.
